I have been driving turbo charged 4cyl powered vehicles since 1985 and all have been tuned. I have gotten the same or better mileage after tuning on all of them.
With my 21 Tremor I got 21-22 mpg around town and 24-25 mpg on the hiway untuned. Got the same with the Ford Performance tune. When...
That is the way the Hemi MDS system works too. Here are a couple of pictures of what happens when one of the lifters fail.
I speculate that when a cylinder deactivates the load of the cam pushing on the lifter against the valve springs goes away. When it reactivates there is a sharp increase in...
Yep, it's called Multiple Displacement System or MDS. I got the Hemi in my hot rod because one of the MDS lifters failed and wiped out the cam. When I rebuilt the engine I replaced all the MDS lifters with standard lifters, removed the MDS solenoids and plugged the ports.
FWIW, my son's wife...
FWIW, back around 2006 there was a technical service bulletin that stated that any time an 8.8 differential is serviced, use 75w-140 gear oil. This applied to all platforms that used the 8.8 differential. If you buy gears for your 8.8 from Ford Performance they supply Royal Purple 75w-140...
The trip computer calculates fuel used by the duty cycle of the fuel injectors. Error is introduced by manufacturing variations in the injectors and the pressure variations generated by the fuel pump. Miles driven is calculated by a constant in the computer for tire diameter and counting the...
I read the manual for every new vehicle I purchased. Most of it is nothing new but there are always some tid bits that are nice to know.
First time I had to reset the auto up/down feature was back in 2011 on my wife's 2012 Focus.
I had to specifically ask for a custom tranny tune. It took three revisions to get it the way I wanted it. I have driven 30k miles since and I am still happy with Torries work.
Torrie at Unleashed Tuning revised the tranny shifting for my Ranger and I installed the tune along with his 87 octane performance tune using my SCT X4.
Nope, I didn't use remote start. FWIW, I don't recall ever seeing the rear defroster come on with remote start. I never use AUTO Climate control and have always had to manually turn on the rear defroster.
After 3.5 years and 47k miles I have my first issue. I went out for coffee this morning and when I pulled out of the coffee shop I noticed the rear window was all cracked. It didn't effect the sliding window. When I got home and closed the door it started crumbling. Got is covered with duct tape...
Well they have a 60k warranty. Could be that as an OE tire they are made differently to meet a Nissan requirement.
Anyhow, most likely will go with the Grabber APT or Continental Terrain Contact AT since my son's shop gets a good deal from General/Continental.
I have 47k on my 21 Tremor and the Grabber ATx tires are wearing well. I will easily get the 60k warranted mileage. Only down side is they are starting to get noisy, they were very quiet when new.
When the time comes to replace them I will go with something more road oriented like the Grabber...
FWIW, I have never owned a vehicle that I did not do better than the EPA estimates and that includes the Ranger. The EPA estimates for my Ranger Tremor is 19/19/19 mpg. I regularly get 24 to 25 on the highway starting from a full tank and driving at least 200 miles. My around town driving nets...
Back in 21 I drove a FX4 and Tremor back to back over the same shitty road. The Tremor definitely road better and was better controlled. I purchased the Tremor even though my only off roading is occasionally take it out on the beach.
