Depending on what the NextGen Ranger looks like, it's features, options and, of course price, I may be persuaded to sell my 2020 Lariat S/Cab 4x2 and order a nexgen, here's the actual miles on it...I've owned it for 19 months. Should be able to get a decent price on it.
I special ordered my 2020 Lariat S/Cab on Aug. 20, 2019, the same week Ford released ordering info for MY 2020 Rangers.
The truck arrived in Honolulu January 16, 2020, I took delivery 2 days later.
Was the almost 5 month wait worth it? Absolutely!
I can relate to your statement concerning automakers delivering cars with missing pieces:
When I was much younger and worked as a mechanic at a Lincoln/Mercury dealer I was given a job involving a brand new '76 Cougar XR-7, the 351M shook so violently at idle that the hood would not stay...
Yeah, with the current state of affairs you may be right, not to mention that Rangers are assembled only at one plant.
If it's any consolation, my 2020 Lariat took 5 months, from ordering to final delivery...
Hope your's gets built...?
I stand corrected, it's traveled 315 miles since I took delivery on 1/18/20, my daily driver is a decrepit '02 Honda CRV.
I changed the oil and filter on the Ranger on 1/16/21, it had 281 miles on it then...saved the oil for my lawnmower, generator, etc., my last name ain't Lee for nothing...lol
Howzit Alec,
Drove up Mt. Kaala years ago in my '86 F-150 4x4, found that 4 wheel drive was needed to descend the road because of the grade, had to shift to 4 low in some places otherwise I would have fried the brakes. If I am not mistaken Peacock Flats is in the area
Here's my 2020 Lariat 4x2...
The '58 Chevy lineup sure made the '57's look downright dowdy, as the '59 models did to the '58's. The '60's styling showed some resemblance of normalcy, the '61's were just plain weird. Nowhere near as bad as the '61 Plymouth, with it's "flashlight" taillights....lol.
Dunno why Ford chose to bring back the name Maverick for their new truck, the name conjures up thoughts of a woeful, underachieving rattle box in which every single control or function on it came with gobs and gobs of play until any action happened. Yet Ford sold tens of thousands of them, just...
Indeed, the cost of living in Hawaii, on Oahu in particular is astronomical...
On a side note, I'm sure traffic was bad when you lived here, I daresay it is 5X worse now, I know of people who live in the Ewa beach area, their weekday morning commute to HNL metro area averages about 2 hours...
Lease residential properties practically non-existent in the Islands now, it's all fee simple.
That condo you passed up is worth a hell of lot more than the 225-250K now. Where you based out of Pearl/Hickam, Schofield or Camp Smith?
I get a chuckle when I hear radio ads for a new condo which...
Dunno, but investing in a home is a vastly wiser decision than in a new vehicle.
However it's gonna take several, actually a lot of new Rangers to match the price of a new home in Honolulu, average price is presently hovering @ 1 million, the market is currently on fire as I am writing this also.
Sorry brother, but I can't, active and retired members are allowed only 2 decals during their IAFF membership. One decal resides on my '20 Lariat, the other on my beater '02 CR-V. The local union office keeps track of these decals, hell I can't even buy department regulation t-shirts, patches...
We used to rotate cooking duties at the station, my last assignment was at HFD's fireboat.
If ANYONE (myself included) served beef liver for chow, they'd find themselves in Honolulu Harbor...wearing concrete shoes...lol
