You could try clear nail polish. If it makes it worse just use the remover and take it off. Might fill deep scratching enough to be a temp fix/repair

I see that but factory is a hard plastic piece that plugs into a counterbore in the transmission casing and the rest of the plastic gets buried in the aluminum threaded cap. That keeps the tail of the stick from wandering around the internals of the transmission. Just a piece of sheet metal...
