So...200plus miles since adding the tool boxes and mods. So far so good.
The right one weighs at least 30lbs with gear and tools and left one has the ARB setup.
No signs of cracks or issues. Only other thing I did was lube the hinges and locking mechanism.
Went off-roading on sand today, lots of...
Here’s a few pics from today from Robert Moses Democrat point (different area, more loose soft sand and deep ruts).
No fish lol...A bit cold and windy today, so my wife and I decided to pack it In early.
Tested the setup today at a 4 wheel drive fishing area, Robert Moses State park (Lots of loose soft sand and deep ruts).
Using Staun deflators, each tires were running at 18-20 psi. The ARB twin aired them all at 2-3 minutes each back to 37psi. (with me checking the tire pressures in between)...
Thanks!
They’re from 2 different ebay sellers. The side graphics are very good quality (forgiving, for a novice like me lol).
Although I would recommend getting it done professionally for better results (without bubbles or creases). The Raptor style “ Ranger” decals are the 24” ones, he offers...
Hi, just want to start a thread about onboard air and also to see other members setups.
I also wanted to share where I put mine and why I went with the ARB twin compressor.
It was abit of a pain trying to run wiring from battery to bed...but it’s all worth it in the end.
Some of you guys already...
Here’s a few more pics...I cleaned up the wiring in the bed.
I relocated the shovel and also the ARB switch outside the box.
It surprisingly can handle air tools too (135 up to 150 psi per ARB)
Anyway, That’ll be all for now. I think I'm done modding the swing out tool boxes.(for now) LoL:giggle:
So, following what ARB recommends in their instructions,
I ended up installing the 40A fuse(x2) next to the battery, then
used 10ga (same as orig) primary wires as extension (x2) and left the ground 8ga.
Routed the wiring as above , from bed to drivers side frame rail, under hood then to...
I went an inch bigger in diameter 31.5” with 265/65/18 Duratracs
The stock one was 30.5” 265/60/18 Hankook Dynapro
No issues so far at 140 plus miles.
I think the issue would be the width, so I checked this first
https://tiresize.com/comparison/
According to the size calculator, the width is the...
Bushwacker and Ford should’ve thought about this.
It looks so much better with that additional lower front trim.
My set is off, til I figure out if I’m keeping my stock rims and Duratracs or go with lift/ aftermarket offset wheels.
I finally got the ARB compressor harness hooked up today.
I used 12 volt quick connect, then ran 10ga wiring from battery to the bed.
(routed the wires on the driver side frame rail, next to the factory harness)
Will try to post pics tomorrow.
Edit: see below
I have 2, one on each side. (Added a few things to it
https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/slight-mod-to-the-ford-oem-swing-out-tool-boxes.2397/)
I actually converted the passenger side to hold my onboard ARB air compressor :)
The brackets it comes with seems pretty sturdy, the actual tool...
:like:Thanks to everyone here for the install pics and tips.
Also thanks to @j0shm1lls for the video that showed removal of oem grille.
Anyway, Just finished installing mine today.
Not sure if this was posted yet, but it could save you guys a few minutes trying to figure out the order of how the plastic tabs are installed. (on Conn Joes Raptor grille)
If you look closely, the mounting tabs has numbers on them. This is the order I got mine installed:
