  1. Another Ranger starting to see Trans issues

Glad they didn’t rip it apart and leave you hanging. Hopefully it gets handled properly and no hiccups.
  2. Finally got my Ranger back from warrantied transmission repair. Is this what has been the common issue?

I’m pretty sure the tech “touched” the CDF drum seeing that per the parts list he replaced all the C,D and F friction discs and the C steels. Unless I’m missing something then that’s pretty incriminating along with his admission of “he thought it was the updated one”. Which then makes this even...
  3. Finally got my Ranger back from warrantied transmission repair. Is this what has been the common issue?

Ask them ( Ford) for an extended warranty on the transmission if they’re so confident in their dealer doing the right thing. Doesn’t hurt to ask
  4. Another Ranger starting to see Trans issues

Sounds like they’re on the trail. See what they come back with. Could be several things going on due to a snowball effect.
  5. Another Ranger starting to see Trans issues

That’s exactly what you want. There are known issues with it . If you have the chance to catch it and update it under warranty why wouldn’t you? I probably would have just kept driving mine with it’s quirks for who knows how long ( maybe beyond warranty) but knowing that there was an issue and...
  6. 2020 Ranger XLT Transmission issues - dealer says it shifts and drives fine?

Couple of options First, get a different dealer. Second , have them do the test that’s prescribed in the latest version of the TSB for the CDF drum issue ( TSB 25-2134).
  7. Another Ranger starting to see Trans issues

The diagnostic test in the TSB calls for 1 hour. If there’s nothing detected in the test you should know the first day and only be on the hook for that day and the $199 ( but that’s even sketchy). Or are they planning on waiting for the 9th day to do the test?? ???
  8. Fitzstick Installation Tips?

Go in from the passenger side wheel well. Behind the rubber flap it’s a pretty straight shot to the plug using a breaker bar or long ratchet. Might have to take the tire off for easier access. Thats how I got mine out. Just can’t remember if I removed the tire or not
  9. What did you do WITH your Ranger today?

Looks like a happy dude in the back window ?
  10. Finally got my Ranger back from warrantied transmission repair. Is this what has been the common issue?

Most likely there’s a warranty on what they repaired. But not on something that they didn’t replace. So if they reused the old style CDF drum and down the road it causes issues they can refuse to cover it because it wasn’t something that they replaced. Which is why it’s a problem.
  11. Finally got my Ranger back from warrantied transmission repair. Is this what has been the common issue?

The tech didn’t inspect the CDF drum even though he put new discs in it. By his admission ( he thought it was updated). It’s visually noticeable between the two. How did he know it was reusable if he didn’t look at it to determine if the bushing had moved ( even the slightest) or if it was the...
  12. Finally got my Ranger back from warrantied transmission repair. Is this what has been the common issue?

Fishy indeed. The tech “thought” ( but didn’t verify) . That alone is an admission of guilt. Major backtracking. Keep pushing. The CDF drum IS the biggest issue.
  13. Dealership repaired my transmission

    Bucking, surging…. DPFE sensor??
  14. Finally got my Ranger back from warrantied transmission repair. Is this what has been the common issue?

It’s really hard to believe if that’s what they did. Maybe there’s a screw up in the parts listing and they actually replaced it but not noted.
  15. Finally got my Ranger back from warrantied transmission repair. Is this what has been the common issue?

They also replaced the C,D and F clutch friction discs which go in the drum. The issue with the drum is the bushing inside of it. It can move and cause all kinds of problems ( possibly yours). The updated drum has a step machined into it to prevent the bushing from moving.
  16. Finally got my Ranger back from warrantied transmission repair. Is this what has been the common issue?

TSB is specifically about the updated CDF drum. I can’t believe a Ford tech would be inside a 10R80 that far and not put the updated CDF drum in. Unconscionable ?‍♂️. attached copy of the TSB ( note: has been updated to 25-2134 since this one but basically the same)
  17. Finally got my Ranger back from warrantied transmission repair. Is this what has been the common issue?

JL3Z7H351B is the part number for the updated CDF drum. I don’t see it listed on the repair order. Whether it was part of the failure or not why wouldn’t they have put the updated CDF drum in? If that’s the case it’s very concerning. Had this been worked on previously and had the updated CDF...
