I changed mine at 36k. Mine's a 2020 without the engine cover. Lots of rust considering I don't drive through a whole lot of rain (DFW , Texas) or go mudding. It is parked outside and I run it through a carwash a couple times per month.

I drained my damper fluid and replaced it with a 50/50 mix of 303 and Sta-Bil..... tailgate opens and closes automatically now.
