  1. Where do you get your oil changed?

The Valvoline up the street from me actually does a great job on oil changes. Even had them change a battery on my wife's last car because I couldn't get the stupid thing out and fractured my wrist trying. It was shoehorned in there. Took at it to Valvoline and they had some special tool to grab...
  2. Brand loyalty???

I like cars (ok mainly trucks) and have a short attention span. Though the pace of turnover has started to slow down as we get closer to an out of state move and kids in college. The current one will have to do for a while. Only once have I lost money on a car, that was a Ram. Everything else I...
  3. Brand loyalty???

I have zero brand loyalty. I actually sat down and made a list of every vehicle I have ever owned. 33 in total across 14 brands. I buy what fits my needs the best, period. 9 of those 33 times it has been a Ford. When the wife's lease is up on her Infiniti in November we'll likely buy a CPO Edge...
  4. Need advice

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Especially after verifying it was there.
  5. Need advice

I very intentionally did NOT test drive the Tremor when I bought my truck. I told my wife "if I test drive that one we will buy that one". As nice as it would have been that extra $5k over my truck goes a long way toward the older one's first year of college. Maybe after my younger one graduates...
  6. What is everyone paying for their 5th Gen Ranger?

One dealer quoted $7k "market adjustment" plus $2898 in dealer add-ons (GPS, Fabric protector and some exterior protection crap) for a total of $9998. That was the biggest I had seen when shopping. I can't remember exactly which one, it was either Thousand Oaks or Ventura in CA.
  7. Need advice

Only you can say if the $4k difference is worth it to you and your pocketbook. If you were already at the top of your budget then stretching $4k doesn't necessarily make financial sense.
  8. Ford Ranger - long term reliability

5k miles for oil and filter changes as trucks are used in traffic daily. Air and fuel filters as needed. Belts and trans fluid at 100k (Ford has them rated at 150k).
  9. Ford Ranger - long term reliability

Having purchased fleets for a couple different companies I can tell you that with proper maintenance the EcoBoost engines in the F150s (both 2.7 and 3.5) and the 2.0 in the Edges can easily see 200k, I don't see why the ranger 2.3l would be any different. Maintenance on any modern vehicle is the...
  10. Tacoma is not so reliable as folks think

Back to the actual Tacoma reliability discussion rather than trashing parts quality. My brother has a 2017 with 130k miles on it and has had zero issues. He has had to replace keys twice because he's ran them over (I still don't know how he managed that) but that isn't on Toyota. He is not...
  11. Need dad advice: Ranger Regrets?

I had a Ram 1500 Quad Cab for 100k miles as my work truck. My kids (12 and 17) hated that back seat on the rare occasions they had to ride in there. They have yet to complain about my Ranger backseat (on all of 3 weeks I've had it lol). I had full size trucks for towing our travel trailer when...
  12. Maverick in at my local dealership, compared to my ranger

I'm not going to hate on it. In fact, I will probably try to buy one when my 12 year old turns 16. Hopefully, by then, I can get a nice used AWD one in the low teens. I think it would be a great first car.
  13. anyone ever sell to carvana?

No surprise. We had a 2+017 Subaru that started having issues. Dealing with dealer was extremely aggravating. Got an offer from Carvana, Vroom, SHIFT and CarMax. Carvana was highest but I wasn't completely sure about offloading it. A few weeks later we decided to move it and updated the Carvana...
  14. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Simple and free mod...removed the front plate and bracket. Yes we are technically supposed to have it in CA but haven't had one on a car or truck in over a decade. Looks 100x better to me
  15. Lets see your sport package trucks

My black Sport 4x4. Only tint done so far. Freshly waxed last weekend. Just hit 500 miles. Next additions are side steps and bed cover. Then I'm don....who am I kidding? I have a whole list of things to get done over time.
  16. What is everyone paying for their 5th Gen Ranger?

Robbins didn't have much inventory aside from Cactus Grey so I didn't even reach out. Villa Ford was $3k above MSRP and refused to budge. Ken Grody Redlands was willing to get aggressive but they didn't have anything I wanted but would order and discount. Unfortunately the $3k deal was Labor Day...
  17. Curt wireless brake controller

Last few years I have been renting out a 26 foot toy hauler that I bought just for that purpose. I bought one of the Echo's on the recommendation of another owner who was renting theirs out. It worked great. I'd have the renter download it before coming to pick it up and never had to worry about...
  18. 5 rangers or this one truck?

I'm actually not brand loyal at all. In the past 15 years have owned 3 Fords, 2 Toyotas, 2 Rams, 1 Lexus, 1 Nissan, 2 Subarus, 1 Saab, 3 Infinitis. The Rams were a 1500 and a 2500. Yes, I have a VERY patient wife. Way too many trips to dealer service on those two. Both were 2016 models, 2500...
  19. 5 rangers or this one truck?

Much like the majority of Raptors these will never see off road, they will look pretty driving down the road, until the electronics give out. Hard pass for me. That's a couple rental properties in different parts of the country. I'll drive my Ranger, thank you very much.
