  1. Dreaded Engine Light- what now? Code P0471

Engine light went on- Code reader says it's P0471. I tried to clear the Code (Blue Driver), but it cannot be erased because the code is "permanent," but the dash light did go off. I can't figure out what the code means- seems like anything from a EGR to a leaky head gasket. Prior to the code...
  2. Time Sure Does Fly By Fast

How is R5G like peanut brittle? It takes a whole lot of sweetness to keep all the nuts together! Thanks for all your work Dave, and thanks to all of the members for just making R5G a great place!
  3. Curt wiring harness for towed vehicle problem

I'm just getting ready to install Roadmaster brackets (RM 524459-5) on my 2020 Ranger, and I'll be using an Even Brake system (RM 9400) when I tow. I asked if I needed a "Brake-Lite Relay Kit" (RM-88400) and I was told I did need that. This is what they said: "The purpose of a brake light...
  4. Is my Ranger trying to tell me something?

Maybe it's due to the insulation under my hood, but I don't hear this noise in the interior. I changed my oil yesterday (39,000 miles), and then checked for leaks (there were none) but the hood was open heard this loud flutter noise. I checked for obstructions around the fan, and found none...
  5. Why did you pick the Ranger over the Tacoma?

I needed a vehicle with an automatic transmission that I could tow behind my motor-home. You can't tow any Toyota's, so I didn't even look at Tacoma's. The Ranger looked intriguing: its been out for several years in Australia; good gas mileage; the 4WD had a fun factor; it had high residuals...
  6. Beeping from engine compartment?!

Speaking of which, air tags are getting attention on the news. Applied to the underside of a car, such tags, which are the size of a quarter, are nearly impossible to find. Recently, the mayor of Reno disclosed a law suit against someone that has been electronically following her. Go here...
  7. Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Don't eat too much!
  8. Show time! Ford ESP or not...

You brought up some good points- I never looked into an Allstate warranty. Initially, the Ford ESP was confusing because no matter how many years you select for your warranty, the ESP always begins on the date of the original vehicle purchase. So once you max out your 3 years on your vehicle...
  9. Show time! Ford ESP or not...

I appreciate the replies- getting the extended warranty should create some sense of security- and that is why I wondered how many of you had real life experience by using the ESP. The extended warranty gets complicating- there is the additional FOB coverage, which is not a Ford warranty...
  10. Show time! Ford ESP or not...

It's show time! It's time to purchase a Ford ESP extended warranty or not? My stock 2020 Ranger Lariat now has 34,000 miles on it, and I need to decide whether to get the Ford extended ESP warranty. So far, I have done all the maintenance on my Ranger myself: 5,000 mile oil changes; and 10,000...
  11. How about some Jokes [Admin: No Politics, Religion, Nudity, Explicit Posts]

I never touch that library paste- it can bind you.
  12. Maaan, I love my ranger

They say when one loses a parent, one feels like an orphan. Not to worry- with all the friends you have here on this forum, there is no need to ever feel like that. More than that, you can be sure we'll be here for you long after you put all those many miles and smiles on your Ranger ride.
  13. Tire Replacement Time

What type of tire to choose is complicating, and certainly proves the axiom, "one shoe certainly doesn't fit them all. " If towing, I believe you need a higher ply tire for sidewall support, rather than the standard 4 ply. Problem is, when not towing, the higher ply will give a rough ride...
