Technically youāre supposed to do that when you lift the truck to reset proper driveline angles even if itās a one piece driveshaft. Shimming would be at the rear axle instead of the carrier bearing
You have to do science. Then figure out which thickness spacers get you to your target.

To figure out the driveline angles for a two-piece driveshaft, you must
measure the slope of each individual component (transmission output, front driveshaft section, rear driveshaft section...
Iām at a crossroads regarding the Raptor. We tow a 6000lb camper that the wife loves. We could downsize to a smaller camper that the Raptor could handle. But thatās not going to happen whilst Iām still happily married.
Outer shell or also known as trash can. Introduced updated one sometime in 2024. So there were transmissions built with updated CDF but have old style outer shells. Hard to say if valve body caused outer shell failure or the other way around. Chicken or the egg
Actually itās on the pressure side of the turbo so unless itās all the way down into the compressor housing it would end up in the intercooler after starting up. And in wonāt go backwards from there. I would probably not chance it. Maybe
Iām going with this. I have a Tremor and thereās no one piece driveshaft for them. Next best thing. Good time to do the boot and lube on the slip yoke while installing this.
Your turbo doesnāt have seals , instead they have tiny piston rings that have end gaps. They can pass oil if there are other circumstances not related to a turbo issue. Such as a dirty dry or improperly oiled K&N style air filter, restriction in the oil drain tube or higher than normal crankcase...
At 155K I would plan on adding at least the following to your CDF replacement.
All frictions and plates
Torque converter
Outer shell
Valve body
Bearings
Would add significant cost to your repair but just changing the CDF drum would not touch all the problem areas especially at 155K
Lots of good and accurate information if you listen to it. But also a lot of strange unrelated and confusing imagery. Seems AI ish. Especially when they mention the Ford F one hundred and fifty.
Same here. That would cover 80% of my driving currently, maybe more. But then you would still have the 2.3L to do everything else including towing up to 7500lbs.
