I have a few "engineering rules" that I follow when doing design work - just some lessons learned over the years that make for better designs. One such rule is to always orient screws in such a way that they cannot fall out. This allows joints to stay joined, albeit loosely, and the overall...
This really comes down to what you want out of the truck. I went with the XLT because it had cloth seats(wife is not a fan of leather), but still had android auto and other relevant features that make it a very nice truck. Power seats, pushstart, and remote start with the key fob would be nice...
Sorry to say this man, but you screwed yourself when you paid $70k for a Roush truck without knowing what makes up the Roush package. A simple google search would've told you something was off. It's up to you to do the due diligence and understand what makes up such a big purchase.
Have you...
I have the Latchit Rack and enjoy the utility it provides, but find it lacking in material qualities. I will hold on to it because it does work very well for hauling multiple bikes, but I wouldn't buy it again.
My latest rack is a length of 80/20 aluminum t-slot mounted to the front of the...
* If you were buying today, would you still choose the Ranger? Why?
Absolutely. I have put 30k miles on this truck doing the exact activities you listed with zero problems and plenty of comfort. The crew cab FX4 is an excellent adventure vehicle. I have driven it all over the country with...
Yeah I hate to leave a bad review for a small business with such a good idea. The concept is fantastic, and fundamentally works very well, but they flopped with construction and material selection. I don't regret buying it and I'll continue to use it for hauling multiple bikes, but I expected...
I've had the latchit rack for a year now and it has been as easy and functional as advertised. So far here's my impression:
- concept is solid, realized product falls short with cheap construction, materials are wearing much sooner than expected, cross members are kinda flimsy.
- bed space is...
No worries, man. I totally get why you would say that.
So, naturally? No we do not have the natural terrain to be considered mountains, except maybe in the very northern region of the state. What we do have are several plots of land that were once strip mines left to be reclaimed by nature once...
Is this really a debate? A front locker would make for a much more controlled crawling experience rather than the high revving that tends to happen when you let traction control do the job.
So I can't really say what is "smart" to do. since buying a brand new vehicle is not usually a smart move, but none of us would be here if we ignored our wants and only stuck to smart moves! ? You're looking at 2023+ for the redesign, so you need to decide if you want to wait that long for the...
Those front tow hooks are quite strong. The first time I took my FX4 off roading I went blind down a steep hill and planted myself nose first into the ground. I managed to reverse and thought I had just destroyed the bumper on my brand new truck. Turns out I landed directly on the passenger side...
The Ranger tow package really is just the hitch and the 4/7 pin connector, no additional transmission cooling and they all get the tow/haul mode. You can pull 7500 lb with an aftermarket hitch.
This shop probably doesn't want to install a factory hitch because the OEM hitch IS the rear bumber...
Yeah I'm at 23k miles and have been experimenting as I go, including a 5k mi round trip in December. Best I've seen was actually in North Georgia when I could do a ton of coasting in the mountain roads. Maybe I'd see 23 mpg with more mountain time.
I've been resetting trip 2 at each tank and...
Sorry for all the questions, it sounds like you've got a sweet rig regardless of mpg.
Honestly I'm having trouble believing the people claiming 23-24 mpg with their FX4. Best I've seen is around 22 mpg with 93 octane and sustained highway speeds. Around town the average almost never breaks 21.
I'm pretty sure there's a section missing from the definition for Dampen. Does it not also mean to make less strong or intense? Could also be used in this context :p
Did you level the truck without changing the wheels & tires?
It was my understanding that MPG losses are due to the off-road wheels & bigger tires installed with a lift/level and very little to due with ride height(at least when leveled).
Oh wow you're way south! I'm in the Tampa Bay area so Citrus and Richloam are just an hour drive for me. What are the trails like down south?
My buddy went to three lakes a few months ago in his Liberty. Said it was a cool drive but nothing technical. Just some good views and some mud after...
