  1. Is a DIY (Do It Yourself) oil/filter change worth it ?

I pulled the skid plates off while cleaning the undercarriage after a trip to Georgia last fall. Noticed the water looked a little shiny on the ground while spraying mud off the oil pan skid plate. Immediately looked back under the truck and noticed oil stains around the plug. The drain plug was...
  2. Still no alternator problems. The AC compressor pulley however....

This was my second time back to richloam since adding a leveling kit and the first time I've gotten stuck like this. I much prefer Citrus - cause less mud - but my wife is doing research on native frogs in Green Swamp so we're back in this area a couple times a year. Frankly the only thing...
  3. Still no alternator problems. The AC compressor pulley however....

Felt real confidant at the Richloam WMA. My brother proceeded to get his Wrangler stuck pulling me out. We had to hang out, both trucks resting on their axles for a few hours until my dad could make it out with his F150 to save the day.
  4. Tailgate Mod (maverick inspired)

Well that's convenient! I put a thru-axle mount in mine and I still have to deflate the rear tire to clear the tailgate if I want the bike to sit straight. It just sits crooked for short drives to the trails.
  5. Bike tailgate cover

Not just your average pedal bike lol I'm ~$2500 in on my hardtail and all that money has gotten me a bike that only needs a wash and some chain lube after bombing 40 miles of backcountry mtb trails!
  6. Do you guys think this will "Buff out"?!

Sorry to hear about the accident, man. It hurts to see and I hope you don't have any serious injuries. As an Inflator Engineer I can't help but focus on the fact that your airbags didn't deploy in this event. Now I don't know all the details here and I haven't worked a Ford program yet, but I...
  7. Parking brake boot.....Genuine Pleather

Same thing is happening to mine and it definitely isn't seeing 0°F weather
  8. Front seat removal, anyone tried?

Yeup I figured it out right after asking lol
  9. Front seat removal, anyone tried?

Maybe a dumb question but is there a tool needed to unplug the wiring harness for the front seats? I pulled the red tab, but it seems to still be locked in place somehow.
  10. How do you clean your undercarriage and how often?

I usually dedicate some time on my back with a jet nozzle after a trip to Citrus or Green Swamp. I make sure to stick the hose up over the skid plates and various frame holes until the water runs clear and rinse the engine bay too if it was particularly muddy. I'll give the wheel wells a scrub...
  11. Frustrated with FOX! (2.0 Stage 1)

You win some and you lose some with these threaded aluminum shock bodies. The aluminum body is more corrosion resistant and lighter than the steel alternatives and they are almost infinitely adjustable between 0"-3.5". With all those advantages you lose the ability to adjust the spring perch...
  12. ? New Tacoma Mule Spied

They finally got some disk brakes
  13. So I received the magic ford email

This is a big one many people ignore. The only way to come out ahead here is to sell the ranger at the Carvana price and roll that cash into something cheaper. Otherwise, pay off your current truck or chase that middle class dream and spend your days knee deep in car debt.
  14. Coilover install time

This is an easy job if you have the tools and the time - just don't follow the Stage3motorsports video. If you have ever done work on any independent suspension, this will be very familiar. Driver's side took way too long as I had never done this before and had to learn a few lessons...
  15. The PIC whore club! Come on in!

Almost exactly 1 year ago at the Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky. This was on the journey home to Florida from our Colorado trip. I've always loved how the Ingot silver looks in heavy fog/low light.

  17. PSA For you folks that are removing / modifying the crash bars to install bigger tires.....

I don't work for the OEMs. I work for a supplier to the OEMs. Airbag inflators, specifically. You asked why they decided to use fasteners instead of welding - I'm saying it's not as simple as you're saying and I can't explain the design choice because I was not involved in making it. How is that...
  18. PSA For you folks that are removing / modifying the crash bars to install bigger tires.....

These automotive HSLA steels generally play well together. I make some pretty nice welds with at least six different alloys. I've only had issues with alloys featuring high (>0.2%) carbon. If I had to guess I'd say the boron steel would make a super hard, brittle weld. Not very useful in a crash...
  19. PSA For you folks that are removing / modifying the crash bars to install bigger tires.....

Yeah I can't speak for the specific details of the design. From experience with my own work there could be a million reasons to justify design choices that may not be obvious to others not involved in development. There were probably some other constraints that made fasteners a better design...
