I’ve decided there’s a short somewhere in the battery junction box. Pulling fuses 32 (fuel pump), 86 (4wd) and 42 (4wd) make the not cutting engine issue go away. Pulling 86 and 42 make all the problems go away except “4x4 fault”. Dealer rush ordered the part for me. I’m taking the truck in with...
Guys this frigging thing is giving me so much anxiety. Do I just start digging in there myself so that they don’t deny my warranty claim and tell me to frig off if a bunch of rats chewed through it? I’m out several thousand on rental cars right now anyway. If I leave it as is and say it’s fixed...
Nothing happens. Entire car appears shut off in every way except the engine. Infotainment and dash powers down, gear selector locks, lights turn off too. Only exception is brakes and gas pedals still work, Same with power steering. Oddly enough, start stop works too.
So now it’s not shutting off every single time. I think I’m going to get in there tomorrow and see if I can pull some lower fuses (like 66) to see if that fixes anything. I’ll buy you a drink somehow if that’s the case. It’s also giving “terrain management fault” “pre collision anssist not...
So it’s not stuck in 4L anymore. It just flashes a bunch of errors on the screen every once in a while. Specifically “see manual” and “service advancetrac”. Literally everything related to the transfer case and 4WD has been replaced at this point down to the fuses. I’m worried something more...
Update again. They replaced the ATCM and handed the keys back to me. Drove home and turned the truck off. Realized I forgot something from the store and when I drove back the truck won’t turn off. I’m guessing it’s every 4 or 5 starts. Also thew up a bunch of errors like “see manual” and...
Update. They replaced a driveshaft bearing, which fixed the noise but now they noticed the truck won't power down (engine and electrical) when killing the ignition. They're now willing to admit this is a warranty issue due to driving in 4L on the highway from the original issue. They're...
lol sorry guys. got busy with work and didn't check this email as much. truck is still in the shop! I'm starting lemon law proceedings soon. One of my classmates from law school does lemon law. Unfortunately the dealer insists it's not related to the issue, but fortunately FoMoCo picked up the...
The only thing to add is they told me "there are two bearings in the driveshaft and one of them is messed up but we're not sure which one yet". You now have all the information that I have. I can go back in person and ask them for more details. Any tips on specific questions to ask?
So I'm actually a lawyer, but not a lemon law attorney. It's been in the shop for 2 months so it is a candidate.
It didn't "accidentally" go into 4L. The motor ground shorted, not sure what that means though. It locked into 4L and wouldn't come out. Took the dealer a few weeks to figure out...
2020 Ranger Lariat FX4
December 14, 2023: While on vacation in Seattle, WA my truck spontaneously shifted into 4L while on I-5 and wouldn't go back to 2H when I pulled over.
December 28, 2023: bumper to bumper warranty expired
January 19, 2023: Ford shipped the truck. I picked it up from a...
I just had this issue while driving on the freeway. Everything you said happened to me right down to a T. Very scary. I ended up getting it towed to a dealer and they'll be taking a look at it. This seems to be a design issue. I wonder if there will be a recall.
