  1. DIY Bed Drawer Build

I've used Rivnuts quite a bit and love them, my buddy has the bigger tool and the smaller one that's more like a rivet gun. I usually just install them with a nut bolt and washer if I'm only doing a couple or borrow his tools for bigger jobs.
  2. DIY Bed Drawer Build

I'm tempted now to order some .25" to replace what I used, quite expensive for a 6 foot piece though.
  3. DIY Bed Drawer Build

It would be great for that and also longevity, by the time I take this all apart and reassemble it again in the truck the screws won't have near the bite as the first time. So unless you went to a heavier screw next time it likely can't be taken out of the truck again and put back in. I may take...
  4. DIY Bed Drawer Build

It's plain vinyl baseboard, 1/4" thick at the thickest point but it's not flat so makes for a tiny contact patch. Not as slippery as I had hoped but once I sand and wax the bottoms of the drawers should be alright. I wanted to use Teflon or HDPE around 3/16" thick but didn't wanna have to wait...
  5. DIY Bed Drawer Build

Got the plastic screwed down and the drawers built today.
  6. DIY Bed Drawer Build

That would work great as well and likely be stronger, the pocket holes are fast and cheap though and if you go overkill on the quantity plenty strong.
  7. DIY Bed Drawer Build

I've looked into that stuff before and even considered painting my Jeep with it tinted to match the factory paint. Would be perfect for this, may look into it again ?
  8. DIY Bed Drawer Build

Marine Ply these days would probably involve a fair size personal loan or the trading of some arms and legs. I did use a decent grade Fir Plywood and the stuff is pretty stable, even untreated I wouldn't be particularly concerned with it being moisture damaged inside the bed like it is
  9. DIY Bed Drawer Build

I've used it in the past on various projects and see no reason it wont stick well enough to wood, especially a rougher grade plywood like I'm using or like treated would be. If it sticks to factory fresh automotive paint rough wood should be a breeze
  10. DIY Bed Drawer Build

I plan on removing all four factory tie points to have room for this now that the sides are made, I'm gonna make some pieces of flat bar for the back ones with the same hole pattern and then weld a piece from them out to the drawer box with another piece of flat bar bolted to the box to hold the...
  11. DIY Bed Drawer Build

Trust me when I say you cant get much further from a good carpenter than with me, take your time and you can get results far better than mine I'm sure. If I take some closer up pictures you'll see some hidden stuff on my work too lol.
  12. DIY Bed Drawer Build

This was originally my plan but the stuff is so expensive I decided to glue some heavy rubber mat on top and just paint the rest black, the only exposed wood will be the drawer fronts anyways. I may still call around and get quotes on having the whole thing professionally sprayed with regular...
  13. DIY Bed Drawer Build

Other than a leaky window which should be fixed under warranty when I have time to take it in the cap is really dry. I am going to be priming and then painting the whole thing with plain old Oil Based black rust paint which should alleviate any more moisture concerns.
  14. DIY Bed Drawer Build

I actually considered something like that with the removable center as I'm worried even smaller boxes like Bbq's or that kind of thing may not fit anymore once there's another 8" of height gone from the bed. Ultimately didn't want to have to drill any holes in the bed and the sides would need to...
  15. DIY Bed Drawer Build

I've been picking away at building a rather redneck set of drawers for my truck. Didn't like how tall the Decked system is nor that it wastes all the space in front of the wheel wells on the 6 foot box. This is what I've come up with so far. All held together with pocket screws as it needs to be...
  16. DIY: Adding the 12V Power Outlet Option in the Bed

I picked up some piggy back fuses a while ago to do this with but ordered the wrong size, have to get the right ones and do that someday.
  17. DIY: Adding the 12V Power Outlet Option in the Bed

This is my plan, just have to rewire my dash cam to a different key on power source first so it isnt on 24/7.
  18. DIY: Adding the 12V Power Outlet Option in the Bed

That's the one I ended up using however it is on a delay, sometime after the key is turned off it loses power.
  19. Wired up my topper

Finally got my topper wired, did an Led strip on the frame of each side window and one across the hatch to light up the tailgate when the hatch is open. Added a switch box with a 3 way that controls On-Off-Door, another switch that turns two strips off to dim things down for reading and stuff...
