Well I received mine today and it’s definitely different than the other Redarc. Cable is a different plug and looks shorter than the others that I have read about. Knob is different too, it now has a trailer logo on it and thanks to Ford for not even assuring that the rubber cap is oriented...
I have the for two reasons, as most said my passenger requires them, and without them the edge of the seats get destroyed faster. With the less that heavy duty leather in my Lariat I can live with the nerf bars to save my upholstery....
yeah I thought the same, then I figured WTH, $70 more for my piece of mind.
I don’t tow much either but we’ve been considering a travel trailer so I purchased the Ford unit and will do the installation at home. BTW one second vs. $70 is not worth taking a chance for my family's safety in my opinion.

If you don't have Active Cruise Control, and your truck was not equipped with a tow package can you simply run the standard REDARC Toe Elite?
My truck came with the basic 4 flat plug in, which I converted to the RV/4flat Ford...
I test drove a fully Loaded Colorado before i decided on the Ranger. Ranger has more power, better styling and handling. The Colorado still felt like a mid 90's S10 heavily worked over.
My Lariat 4x4 is a much better equipped and well rounded vehicle compared to the overly plastic filled and...
You can change that with FORSCAN mine are set to be on always, no time out. That’s why I went with a push switch instead of a pin switch. I am a control freak...lol
I run 285/65/18's no issues at full compression or full articulation. I'm running +30mm offset wheels, BDS crash bars and a 3" leveling kit.
I can air down to 20psi and have had no issues
