There are plenty on Amazon for less than $90 incl. free shipping. The 3.0 version may only include a USB-C to USB-C cable, if you order one make sure that you get a USB-C (Carlinkit side) to USB-A (Sync 3 side) cable.
There is really no need to mess with the Sync 3 ports. I used some of those to tap into the 12V wires of the left 12V outlet and hid this below the bracket. There is plenty of space between the center console and the bracket to run the wires almost invisible.
Your link doesn't work but a simple USB-A to USB-C converter would not resolve the power issue. The MagSafe charger needs a 30W PD power source while the Sync 3 only provides 5W to 7.5W at 5V.
If the phone is less than 80% charged and if the wireless CarPlay/AA adapter is also used then I have seen the wireless charging pad and CP/AA adapter intermittently rebooting. The power draw is just to much for the Sync 3.
The wireless charging pad supports up to 15W (3A at 5V) with...
Somehow I missed this post and I think it's a good idea. However, with the current all one design for smaller and larger phones supported by the same bracket, there is really no good spot to put a clip somewhere. There should not much stress on the wire either because it's only about an inch...
The one in the picture is available and works great for the iPhone 12/12 Pro. It needs some fine tuning for the new iPhone 13 Pro, it's camera sticks out so much that the phone doesn't lay flat anymore. It still charges fine. but it's no longer a perfect fit.
Makes sense. If you have a digital caliper, pm me the dimensions of the cutout (in x.y mm please) and I will see if/where it can be fit in the bracket.
I noticed that there a quite a few of you that have an iPhone 12/mini/pro/max and still prefer the car wireless charger over the MagSafe solution. I suppose that's because it is more plug and play and the white Apple MagSafe charger is not to everyone's liking.
I was playing around a little and...
Nice work but I still wonder what you are planning to plug in there. The wireless CarPlay/AA adapter sits under the tray and the second Sync 3 USB port doesn't have much power for anything else. Wouldn't it make more sense to plug in a USB power adapter in the 12V outlet? Or a USB-A flash drive...
Oh, now I get it. There is only about 10mm space between the wings and the bottom of the wireless charger and my concern would be that it will become too fragile in that spot. If the USB-A or USB-C is only used for charging then something like this plugged in to one of the 12V outlets would be...
On what sides? The 12V outlets? If so then yes, you can route the USB cable from under the bracket in the back (front of center console) and then somehow up. Won't be pretty but it will work.
Wow, that certainly qualifies for a free replacement. The early days PLA brackets seem to be fine up to 100F but anything above that needs something stronger, like ABS. I pm'ed you and hope you will like the new textured bracket.
I hope you will get a break soon, those temperatures on the east...
You would need to use the bracket without rails with flat wireless charging pad since 165.1 x 75.6mm plus case would not be a "small" phone anymore. I have not tried an Otterbox case but I would guess the rubbery wireless charging pad plus textured bracket will not allow the phone to slide...
I finally had some time to find a way for getting the new texture for the smaller phones and came up with this.
There are no more rails to keep the phone in place but the wireless charger sits on an angle and the small ledge is enough to prevent the phone from sliding around too much.
The...
Now that it is reasonably hot in most regions I was wondering how to brackets are holding up. The PLA bracket in my wife's ranger is still fitting perfectly, even after sitting in 90F sun 8 hours a day. The ABS brackets should withstand the heat even better, if that's possible.
And in case...
