  1. Help me decide between Ranger and F150

Check insurance rates. When I bought the Ranger my agent told me I opted for the more expensive to insure vehicle.
  2. Black Box

LMAO...that is because the auto-dimming mirror looks backwards.
  3. 2019 Ranger MPGs

No but it make a BIG difference if I have to stop for fuel on Tuesday or.....well, Tuesday. LOL... No, in reality, it is just a habit left over from driving my old tech cars that actually had something called a gas cap. Right now, out of 4 cars (family needs transportation too) and 2...
  4. Price expectations Q4 and Q1 2020

I foresee that the cut rate financing will go away on the 2020 as well as the hefty rebate. Early this past summer the rebate on the 2019 was $500 and the financing was in the 3.9% for 60 months; I foresee that will be the norm on the 2020 until Jun or Jul 2020.
  5. Dealership Sales Woes

Yup, it is expensive but yes, you will see this soon in a bunch of vehicles. The new Aviator from Lincoln has a 3.0L twin turbo V6 AND a Hybrid electric motor. I think I read somewhere that it is 400 HP and 400 ft-lbs of torque. The new Explorer has a non-turbo hybrid.
  6. Dealership Sales Woes

Just because someone is a 'mechanic' does not necessarily mean that they have a downtown understanding of the systems they work on. My case in point is how many actually can diagnose a new issue without calling engineering at the service desk? Don't get me wrong, I think the job is very...
  7. Dealership Sales Woes

When I was Fusion shopping I had an issue with paying what was being asked (price) for a 1.5L turbo large sedan. My motorcycle has a bigger engine than that! I ended up buying a 2.0L turbo and it really is more engine than the car needs. In retrospect the 1.5L turbo would be fine in a Fusion...
  8. Transmission trashed during flat towing.

That isn't the procedure in the manual for keyed versions. It states to leave it in N and turn the key as far off as it can go, then use a second set of keys or the key pad to lock it up. On the push button version is says to do the stuff and push the button to turn it off. I am not sure, but...
  9. 2021 Chevrolet Colorado

Yup, I agree...kinda early for a 2021 announcement. Who is revising what for 2020 that Chevy is trying to keep people from flooding over? I also feel it is disappointing that the 'major changes' are just visual trim levels. No meat to the updates? No new 'trail control' or other goodies?
  10. Battery management + battery separator = ??

In the case of a camper, though, using 12v stuff in the camper overnight like a heater or fridge can drain the battery. If it isn't disconnected it would run both batteries out and then the truck will not start. l rewired my motorhome a couple years ago with 4 6v deep cycle batteries to run the...
  11. Battery management + battery separator = ??

Yes, this is a fuel saving method. Running the alternator all the time uses quite a bit of fuel. It is managed to some extent to charge on deceleration when the fuel is turned off. You may need an old fashioned relay like a starter relay. When the ignition is on it would connect the two and...
  12. Obscure/little things you love on the Ranger

Sorry everyone... it was a rough day at work today. Not an excuse, I will try to curtail my sarcasm from now on!
  13. Obscure/little things you love on the Ranger

That is where you put the fob if the fob battery dies and you want to start the truck. It zaps it with mind reading rays and reads it even though it does not have power. Only on the push button start models though.
  14. Obscure/little things you love on the Ranger

Okay, back on topic with a new little gem...the 'lock' button on the inside of the rear door on the SuperCrew. When I get to work or get home I can exit the driver door and close it, open the rear door and retrieve my bags, push the lock button and close the door, My Fusion does not have this...
  15. Obscure/little things you love on the Ranger

Ah yes, enter Stage Right the new 7.3L gas V8 in the Superduty… Nough said. I cannot wait until someone stuffs one in a Mustang....
  16. Engine Miss

We share the 2.3L rear wheel drive package with the Mustang and when I bought my 2.3L 2015 50th Anniversary coupe I joined the Mustang6G forum. The 2.3L was setting the CEL for misfire on startup (I had it also). Over the course of the 'investigations' by the forum members the issue was...
  17. Obscure/little things you love on the Ranger

I can hold the traction control button down for several seconds and turn Advanced Track off so I can head to a parking lot on first snow and 'practice' skids and spins without nanny interference.
  18. 2019 Ford Ranger Reviews Compilation

I found this one today. Actually, YouTube pushed it based on my search history. Tacoma vs. Colorado vs. Gladiator vs. Ranger. Spoiler alert...they finish in that order!
  19. Auto stop/start

Easiest and cheapest way is to plug something into the trailer tow connector. Maybe one of those light up receiver plugs or something.
