Thanks! Really liking my truck so far.
If I have my info correct the rating is (for the complete rack): 500lbs “on road rating” if mounted straight to the bed and 300lbs “off-roading”.
If mounted to the Ford/Retrax cover then it drops to 300lbs “on road” and 185lbs “off-road”.
I wasn’t aware of...
Sorry for the late reply but hadn’t driven in a proper snow storm since I got it installed. Today I did and as far as I can tell snow coming in from the cover itself is a non issue. There is however a little snow coming in but it’s from gaps at the bottom of the tailgate (Ford design issue)...
Icon is out with 2 full suspension lifts.
Level 1: 3” max with coilovers/shocks only
And level 2: 3.5” max including Upper Control Arms (UCA) in either steel or billet aluminum.
That’s what they look like installed. They should do what you want them to do in anything less than extreme rock crawling. I’ll know for sure when the snow melts and I start wheeling.
Both glad and upset at this news. When I contacted them in the fall they wrote back saying they had no intention of doing anything for the Ranger. I really wanted an UltraGroove metal for my truck. Ended up going for the Ford/Retrax since it seemed like the only game in town ... but not the same...
I just started organizing them. So far I think they’re gonna be great. Left side is for recovery tools (tow strap, shackles, etc.) and right side is small tools and tie-downs for bed and rack.
Only gripes so far are (1) they don’t pull out far enough to completely clear the Retrax cover. So I...
Thanks! Yes can’t wait. Arriving in a few weeks it seems. And dealer was super cool, he “lent” me the RC level kit while I wait for the Icon lift. He’ll just flip it on a stock unit they’ll build for the showroom.
Ordered through my Ford dealer because I wanted my accessories to be covered under Ford (3yr/60k in Canada) and also eligible for low rate financing through Ford Credit.
And here’s a preview of next week. Had everything mounted and realised the cross-bars were missing. To our surprise a “rack” from Yakima doesn’t include crossbars (???). Had to take it off. Parts coming in on Tuesday. If you notice I ordered a tray from Rhino-Rack instead of a Yakima basket...
As you can see, especially from the pics of the bottom of the “sliders”, they’re almost the real deal, almost. Very sturdy, built for abuse and secure as can be for a body mounted piece (6 different bolts hold it in place).
After driving my truck for a few weeks my biggest pet peeves (option/equipment wise) are these:
Center console way too small for a truck. I mean come on! Did they take it out of a Fiesta??!!
Very inconvenient rear seats for cargo: need a fold flat option and, as stated a ton here, would also...
I found this tool here invaluable to figure out what wheel/offset/tires I needed to fill my fender flares. Unfortunately some values cannot be adjusted to the exact Ranger measurements but it’s close enough, espacially for fender clearance/stance.

If it helps I...
So far impressed with build and material quality. Also like the fact it’s not a V-shaped hammock: allows some roaming and will also accommodate a second dog (on it’s way). Flaps in the bottom to access seat belt attachments if desired. I bought it at my local pet store for $50(CDN).
Still debating if I put them on or wait for a “real” set. Right now leaning slightly towards putting them on because: (1) I have zero patience, (2) they look damn good!! (3) wife wants them on.
Going as fast as I can trust me!! LOL
Wasn’t even sure I was going to keep them after I learned they weren’t frame mounted ... but then I remembered it’s a “Weekend” warrior, not a full time one!
Getting them put on when I get my Icon suspension in 3-4 weeks.
I dont have suspension companies...
