  1. Rangers in SNOW

Yeah you might get it worse than us depending where you are. Brundage has 45 inches in the 5 day forecast lol. I say bring it on! The skiing has been awesome.
  2. Rangers in SNOW

I'll start this thread off for the 22/23 season with 17 inches over night, 35 more in the 10 day forecast. This was cold smoke, 5-6% water content snow. Barely had to work to clean it off.
  3. Ranger 5 Shortfalls

My 02 econoline had a cupholder big enough for a nalgene. I agree that it is a major shortcoming of the ranger. The bed could be 6.5 or even 6.25 feet. 5'10 is just too short for my skis to go in straight.
  4. What are you guys towing?

Yeah out here an inch of water converts to about 10-15 inches of snow in typical conditions. Back in Maine an inch of water was good for maybe 8 inches. In Colorado we used to get super light 3.5% density stuff. An inch of water could yield up to 18 inches! You could clear your driveway with a...
  5. What are you guys towing?

Towed a uhaul 5x8 trailer from Maine to Utah last month. First time towing with the ranger. It was a pretty light load, maybe 500lbs in the trailer, another 400lbs in the bed. Could barley notice the trailer back there most of the time, but of course I ran into a massive headwind going across...
  6. Trade Ranger for a Maverick?

The hybrid maverick will be considerably cheaper to run, easier to park and get in and out of. It's also much more modern inside. It's basically a question of if you need the added utility of the much larger ranger. If you don't really need it and can make the maverick work, then it might make...
  7. New Ranger, Poor Mileage so far...

Driving conditions and driving style determine the milage more than anything. On my summer time commute on 55mph back roads with no traffic I average 24-25mpg every single tank (hand calc, the dash has read as high as 27mph before!). Driving 70mph on the interstate that drops down to 22mpg. In...
  8. 4x4 Capabilities without Fx4 package

A 4x4 truck with open diffs is more capable that 99% of people will ever need. The only meaningful difference in off road capability between the FX4 and base 4x4 is the locker. Skid plates don't add to offroad capability, just protect against damage. A skilled driver can drive as well as the...
  9. Oil dilution issue making me cancel purchase..

Yeah I was typing on my phone which is super glitchy on this site. Fixed.
  10. Oil dilution issue making me cancel purchase..

I am at 25k miles, about to change the oil for the 6th time (aiming for 4500 miles a change). Three of those changes I have done myself, three by the dealer. The oil smells a little gassy but the level never changes and the truck runs like a champ. My fuel milage just seems to keep getting...
  11. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Glad you're alright! A little ditch baggin is always exciting. Your taxes paid for the ditch too, so might as well drive in it a little ?.
  12. XL and XLT owners

XL here. I have the live mpg number on the display most of the time. It really helps me keep my foot out of it and get better mileage. Sometimes on road trips I'll have it on "miles to empty."
  13. Mavrick Sport ?

This is a rendering obviously, the artist said he imagines it with the 3.0 EcoBoost out of the police interceptors. I'd be happy with just a 2 door option in standard maverick trim, but a "hot" sport version would be super cool.
  14. Commercial Use Ranger

I was in NYC the past few days (took the bus down, no way I would subject myself to driving in that crap), and found myself wondering about how the little 2.3 would hold up to commercial use in NYC. The traffic has to be so hard on vehicles. I live in SLC half the year and so do a fair bit of...
  15. Towing downhill with increased RPM's

It is normal for tow mode. I'm not sure I like it either. It really really holds onto that last gear after you have been braking down a steep grade. Doesn't shift until 5 grand at least. I think that as soon as you get back on the gas the automatic engine braking should relax a little bit, but...
  16. Only 2 views of my truck that i hate

Exxon gave Joe 700k in 2020, Chevron gave him 1.4 million. They have more than made that back in profits in just Q1 from the price gouging based on a oil shortage hoax. They are using the war in Ukraine as an excuse to rip us off. Joe talks about transitioning to green energy, but it ain't gonna...
  17. Only 2 views of my truck that i hate

Quarterly profits for BP, Shell, Exxon, and Chevron are all 2-4x what they were last year...
  18. Who is planning less mod’s on their Ranger?

Just chiming into say the it should be FEWER mods, not less mods. In my budget vehicles are sadly in the expense category. To minimize that expense, I like to spend as little extra money as I can on them. I admire and dream about doing some of the mods I see on this forum, but basically every...
  19. High mileage ranger

June 9th -July 9th 2020 it drove nearly 16k in one month on one oil change ?. Averaging over 120 miles/day since it was registered May 3rd 2019. This has to be one of the highest milage rangers out there if not the highest!
  20. Had both a Gladiator Rubicon and now a Ranger Tremor. My impressions.

Welcome to the Ranger club! The mpg on my dash reliably reads 1 mpg higher than when I hand calculate it. My mpg varies widely depending on driving style. I have gotten 26mpg hand calc more than once in my 4x4 STX. I am 150mi into my current tank and dash is saying 27.1, when i hand calc at the...
