For anyone interested in another angle. If there are any "show me this or that" requests, just holler and I'll make sure I get better lighting / angles. Dunno what folks are interested in seeing.
Mostly. They adjusted the pinion angle with some shims, and as the springs have settled with the load it has decreased significantly. I hardly notice it now.
Okay folks - sorry been awhile. I finally got 285's installed. Zero rubbing issues. I'll try to snag some better pictures later. So far loving these. Truck sits a tad bit higher of course, and they just look right.
Hey all - again thanks so much for the great information here and the fantastic conversation. I'm putting the larger tires on hold. I'm having an Eaton locking diff installed in a couple of weeks so that took my cash money.
For anyone wondering, the rear axle in the Gen 5 rangers is a Dana 44...
I'm no stranger to purchase amnesia. Even if they are $200 a pop that's not terrible. Although they will get torn up with the terrain we frequent. My poor stock wheels have seen better days.
Ah, I meant that with the "proper" UCA's I could afford more lift up front without other components...
Now those are some slick looking wheels, friend. That is the color I was looking at for the Method wheels I mentioned. If I may ask, what did a set of 4 set you back?
I'm losing my mind (I blame the kids) but I am spacing on what Bilstein's I have up front (see pic). We're at the max lift...
Curious what UCA's and wheels you went with. I wasn't looking at swapping out wheels right now, but there are some Method's that look pretty darn good I was considering.
Makes sense. These springs do add a bit more lift than I had initially anticipated. I suspect fully laden it'll be just about perfect.
The shop has taken great interest in my rig as it's the only 2WD Ranger they've run across. I'll post specifics once it's all sorted out for anyone else that...
Update: welp, got some shuddering going on during moderate acceleration. Took it back to the shop and they installed a shim on the driveline. That helped quite a bit but it's still there somewhat. A suspension / driveline expert I am not, but they mentioned something about shims for the leafs to...
Figured I'd post a better picture showing the rake. The first image I posted looked more extreme due to my driveway slope. I'm not saying it's level, but it's pretty close to what it was stock. Also, keep in mind this is an empty bed save for the GoFast (weighs a tad under 300 lbs). The new...
We talked about that at the shop. If we need to we'll just move the ARB bumper forward a tad. They aren't convinced it'll need that, though. I guess we shall see after next Friday. I'll post updates of course.
The rake is a bit more than what it was stock when the bed is empty like in the picture above. Nothing crazy, and it flattens out nicely with our full overland load. No other mods needed. Driveshaft length is fine. They did say that I *should* put some aftermarket upper control arms on there at...
Thanks for the suggestions, gents. I'm having the shop do a test fit next Friday. They concurred on the wheel spacers. I just got my 600 lb constant load Old Man Emu leaf springs installed since we carry heavy loads while overlanding. She definitely needs bigger tires now.
Quite possibly. I'm not looking to get rid of or modify this ARB Summit winch bumper...ever. Too expensive and functional but I get what you're saying.
