Thank you, yeah I saw this in the other thread and it gave me confidence for tow package equipped XL's to have the wiring necessary, and not have to run anything to the battery, or figure out where to tie into for the signal wire. I'll be taking a much more careful look next time around for that.
Agree with the above, looks great!! I’m not a good fabricator but am hopeful that kits will emerge in due time and give us normals a chance to have a similar appearing rig.
Thank you, I'll have to take a closer look behind the left kick panel area. Seeing some owners on this forum rip apart their trucks to find those wires had me anxious. Could be a tow vs non-tow package thing too if t4thfavor is correct about the harness. I'll look near the driver's seat and LH...
Oh shoot I am not sure. That is the same harness that should normally be in place on any tow package equipped models right? And apologies to you as well, like I mentioned above I am merely researching XL models for a purchase here soon. Another thread had me very concerned that those 4 wires...
Oh interesting, so they are in a different place than on other models? Apologies as I am not a current owner, rather a prospective one and just making sure what is or is not there, as I've read a few posts that make it seem like a daunting task if those wires are not present.
Thank you, however I was referring to getting the trailer brake controller tied into the vehicle. XL model owners seem to be screwed with regard to getting the TBC integrated easily, even if their trucks have the trailer tow package.
Edds
Yeah that is something I'd like to avoid if possible. I'm okay with doing a little wiring myself (emphasis on little), but I'd love to know where to start looking to the appropriate connections so it doesnt take me all day.
Is that an XL? I’ve checked out a couple of 2020 models and didn’t see any, which coincides with this thread:https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/trailer-brake-control-wiring-non-existent.5273/
Has anyone created a how-to for XL model owners who want to install a TBC (either aftermarket or Ford authorized Redarc)? I'd just like to know where best to tap into for each component what would normally be accessed on XLT+ models with the 4 wires under the dash.
I tried searching around for...
Thank you, that’s still a decent amount of travel. Hopeful that once more owners lower, there might be those who build and fit airbags to assist with heavier payloads or towing scenarios.
The 255/45/18 looks pretty meaty on the 18x9 wheel I have. A similar width on a 20" should look great and still be a bit smaller in diameter than the stock 17.
Since current events seem to be slowing some of the progress on kits and such, I thought I'd ask a question of prospective owners. Does anyone plan on running a smaller diameter tire when they do eventually lower their Ranger?
Reason i ask is because of potential advantages in...
Thank you llm.flyfisher. I don’t plan on towing more than 55-65 as I grew up in CA and 55 was the legal limit so never went beyond that. I currently tow my Miata with my 180hp Tacoma, trailer having a total trailer weight of about 3000, but is aerodynamic. I’ve also towed a small single axle...
Thank you guys so far for the great words of wisdom. I love the idea of a midsize because I truly enjoy the way they drive more than a full-size. An F-150 in the spec I’m looking at can tow about 9200lbs though similar in payload capacity. Both have a similar wheelbase and overall length (with...
Hey guys, been lurking a while and in light of the current circumstances have been finding more time behind the monitor to ponder future life choices. I dont have a Ranger (yet?) however have been considering my options for when it comes time to 'upgrade' from my 2nd gen 4-cylinder Tacoma.
I...
