  1. OVS expedition cap

Depends on when the shipping container from China arrives...
  2. OVS expedition cap

There's 8 install locations nationwide. But yeah, we don't have sales tax in Montana, so it's often worth a visit just for that reason (and because it's Montana). I totally get that not everyone has the budget, I'm just trying to help illustrate where money goes when you buy the knock offs...
  3. OVS expedition cap

Hate to break it to you, but sales tax exists even for shitty products.
  4. OVS expedition cap

Again, it's $3850. Of which about $3k is cost.
  5. OVS expedition cap

I get it, price is price. Just note that we're talking bed caps not campers here, and the GFC Topper is $3,850.
  6. OVS expedition cap

There's a right way and a wrong way to make stuff, and that will bear out as you use products, and rely on them in harsh conditions. GFC is direct to consumer, so you're not putting 40 percent of your money in a middle man's, and then a dealer's pocket. You're paying the same price for as a...
  7. OVS expedition cap

Why not just go with the brand everyone else here is ripping off?
  8. OVS expedition cap

RSIs are made in SA by local laborers earning $2/hr. Same deal with distributor and dealers, so you're still spending thousands on a product that ultimately cost a couple hundred. You off-road a bit, you will eventually suffer a failure.
  9. Wheels spacers, are they really that bad?

    One inch, no more.
  10. OVS expedition cap

Sorry, I ruin everything. AT Overland makes another great product: https://atoverland.com/pages/at-truck-cap-topper In general, I'd encourage people to consider business models when shopping for any product, as a way to calculate value. Using OVS as an example, some random factory in...
  11. OVS expedition cap

They take existing designs from other companies, remove anything difficult to manufacture, make stuff at cut rate prices in China, then sell them at discount prices here in the U.S. If that's not a Harbor Freight analog, I don't know what is. I've started helping GFC out with some PR and...
  12. OVS expedition cap

OVS: The Harbor Freight of 4x4 accessories.
  13. What winch are you using?

Warn VR-10S is the answer. Fits neatly between the frame rails and gives you the 1.5x safety factor. Mounting solutions are going to differ a little bit. I use an ARB bumper, but there's plenty of trays out there.
  14. Wheels spacers, are they really that bad?

Just another reason why it's worth developing a relationship with a quality independent mechanic rather than relying on dealers or chains. Quality and care will be off the chart when you find the right one.
  15. Help me build out my GFC Ranger

Dude, mountain summer nights should be no problem. The pads I linked above are not like the el cheapo alternatives, they're crazy, crazy warm. Will be way quicker to set up, easier to use, and safer than any diesel heater. Tip on the GFC: make sure you're opening the vents at the narrow end...
  16. Baja kits long travel

    BK stuff is notoriously awful.
  17. Help me build out my GFC Ranger

Diesel heaters are expensive, messy, take up tons of space, and aren't entirely safe. If you're not camping in seriously cold conditions regularly, I'd encourage you to just chase down good clothing and quality sleeping bags. Do you already carry a battery in a box like Goal Zero or...
  18. Help me build out my GFC Ranger

Good looking truck. Crash bars: they just bolt off. Other than that, what are your goals?
  19. Lensun Hood Solar Panel

That looks great. Thanks for the solid review.
  20. Can I simply use take-offs from an FX4 package?

Please stop saying leveling kit, it hurts my feelings and makes me sad. You're performing modifications without adequate knowledge, experience or advice in order to achieve a look that just looks stupid to anyone who's ever driven a truck. You're just pushing the suspension down. This forces...
