You're going to lose a lot of gearing, a ton of mpgs, and all the performance above 285/75-17 without gears. Gearing disadvantage alone would undo any advantage of road. And you'd be putting enormous stress on the engine, cooling system, and transmission. I ran tire sizes and gears past...

Interesting. I'll run that past my mechanic and see if it all pencils out. Debating whether to keep the Ranger or buy a new Super Duty next year. If I stick with Ranger, I'd definitely like to get it on bigger tires via gears.

I'd strongly reconsider going with 35s until someone finally makes gears for our trucks. You'd be putting immense strain on the entire powertrain.

Oh, and we should include the KC Flex Era 4, which does ~650yds, albeit for about $650. That's starting to get into genuinely useful performance, but obviously can't compete with the Lightforce Strikers, or any other larger driving lights. Good option for people who don't drive over 45 or so...

And let's compare that to the Rigid D Series Pro Spot, which only provide a pathetic 270yds at 1 lux for about the same price. And the BD Squadron Pro which does 340yds, again in same $ ballpark. And the Lightforce Rok40 spots which do about 200 yds for $185. Winner of the silly little pod...
