Thanks. Not entirely sure those answers apply in this situation. I'm pretty sure I met all conditions, plus the fuel economy gauge will tell you why ASS is not working at the moment but I am not getting any message there. Just says unavailable. Also ASS was working fine earlier on my drive.
Hello,
Today on my drive to work I was stopped at a light, I slightly took my foot off the brake and the ASS tried to start the engine but it was a ROUGH start. Engine sounded like it wasn't firing on all cylinders. It eventually got going but there was some warning (Orange ASS symbol) that...
Has the engine ever overheated? You may be able to take it to Ford and have them do it. even if out of warranty Ive heard they sometimes take care of things like this.
What is your oil change interval at? Ford Pass says 3000....I know it used to be 10k, at least on my old 19 Ranger.
Can the OCI be changed to alert you sooner? I wonder if previous owner changed this.
Probably not. But I'm not aware of a F150 engine recall. But I don't follow that stuff too close.
Speaking of F150s...my friends dad just blew his turbo v6 F150 while towing. 2018 with like 80k miles. Ford is replacing for him. I suspect it's a defect but the guy may not have changed oil...
Exactly.
I would say there are way bigger issues on other trucks. Like the recent 22-23 Toyta Tundra engine recall due to bearings failing from debris left in the engine.
Dang so the whole bracket broke at the weld!?
I was looking at the ARB skid plates, but I don't want the whole set, just the front one.
Mine is still stock height. Need to lift it. I'll check this weekend to see how bad the damage is. So far I haven't noticed aby weird noise or driving issues.
Hey y'all,
went off roading this weekend and let my buddy drive. I think he may have braked right before he hit a rock and the truck bumped it pretty bad. We werent going very fast but the part looks mushroomed and bent a little. I only have the OEM skid plat and it doesnt cover this part...
Yea never heard of this issue on 2.3. And it's stopped since then?
I think someone else pointed out oil filter. Don't think you need Motorcraft but if you run a crappy filter and don't run the truck regularly then the oil will all drain back into the sump and then you may have a start up...
Thank you so much for posting this! I'm nearing 50K and was planning on doing this soon.
One note I would add:
As a possible preventative against the water in the spark plug well that some people have experienced (me). I put a good amount of dielectric grease are the top of the spark plug...
Dont forget the front serpentine belt tensioner freezing up and ripping the belt off and putting holes in your valve cover...
But all jokes aside, the 2.3 does seem to be a solid engine. Very few complaints on here, and several over 100K miles with no issues.
