  1. Carrying a bicycle

Don’t overlook Rockymounts hitch racks. I have the Monorail and have been really happy with it. Great load rating too, so I don’t have to worry about having heavy ebikes or DH bikes on it. Had I gotten the rack after my truck, I probably would have gone with their swing away model, the...
  2. 2WD Daily Driver & Overlander Build

265/70-17 KO2. Came off my rollover 4Runner that prompted the Ranger purchase. Hoping to locate either a Vagabond Drifter or AT Overland pop up camper. Something I can still have use of the bed for daily use.
  3. Beefed up 2WD's. Let sse those pictures and here the performance stories!

FX2 package, Fox coilovers, LEER shell w/ Rhino Rack. Waiting on 859 Fab front skid plates
  4. 2WD Daily Driver & Overlander Build

Looks like we’re building in parallel. FX2 crew cab here
  5. chirp sound coming from the engine

Any lasting effect on the noise? I suspect that the amount of heat in the region of turbo would make it difficult for any type of spray lube to last very long.
  6. Free Oil Change for Essential Workers - check your Ford Pass Rewards App

I think a main reason is how the are fundamentally structured. For most shops, oil changes are loss leaders. They don’t make money on them in the end. It’s the other service and repair work that’s profitable. I think by nature Jiffy Lube has to. They have a very streamlined process that wastes...
  7. Free Oil Change for Essential Workers - check your Ford Pass Rewards App

I never recommend for anyone to sit in the waiting room. If you can, drop it off early and leave it for the day so they can work it into the schedule better. "They came to wait, let's not disappoint them" is a running joke among techs....."I hope they brought a sleeping bag is another one"...
  8. Free Oil Change for Essential Workers - check your Ford Pass Rewards App

https://pages.email-ford.com/the-works-for-essential-workers/ Just saw this today. You need to claim it by June 30.
  9. Dead on road after auto stoo

Auto window functions are tied to volatile memory, when the battery dies or is disconnected it needs to be relearned. Just sounds like a faulty battery. Ive seen OE batteries last 10 years, others less than 1. The fact that it basically died while driving and wasnt gradual would seem to...
  10. Trailer Brake Controller Required...

And in general, take what a sales guy says with a grain of salt. Some do know their stuff, but there are a lot more that just switch from other makes of cars or washers and dryers and don’t know anything about what they’re selling. It takes a brand loyal, dedicated sales person to really know...
  11. Fox 2.0 rear shocks installed today

Since they have a piston separating the oil from the nitrogen, orientation doesn’t matter. The instructions show it mounting with the shaft side down. I did as well for a couple reasons. I figure the hardened steel shaft is less prone to damage then the aluminum body. Plus if the body is...
  12. Fox 2.0 Do they come pre loaded for the correct height 2" added

They seem to vary a bit and depend if your particular application. I put them on 2wd and ended up with almost a full 3ā€ lift, which actually seems like a bit much since sometimes a get a harsh too out over things like speed bumps. I will be lowering mine back down to 2ā€ when I get time to remove...
  13. 2wd vs. 4wd

A 2 wheel drive can handle forest service roads just fine, depending on condition. Good tires are a must and in time you might find a suspension upgrade of some kind to be valuable. Any older vehicle (basically not new, as far as I’m concerned) should get looked over by a shop BEFORE buying...
  14. Blackstone Used Oil Analysis

The algorithm that determines the oil life monitor is pretty involved. I work at a University fleet with vehicles that will never see more than 3k miles in a year, others with all highway miles, and even police interceptors that spend large amounts of time idling. All if the individual oil life...
  15. Camper toppers like the Four Wheel Camper Project M

Been looking at different options of truck camper/toppers. Personally I'm not a fan of roof top tents. And there seems to just be a few options for 5' beds. Came across the Project M by Four Wheel Campers. Right at 400lbs and you can retain use of the bed for other occasions. Anyone here...
  16. Fox 2.0 kit questions - how much did it lift

I’ve been driving my FX2 for a while now with the kit. I actually think it’s too much at times. Certain driving conditions it’ll give a harsh top out because of not having enough down travel available. Things like speed bumps make it most prevalent. I will probably lower mine back down closer...
  17. Auto up and down window switches

No complaints from me. Confusion maybe, simply that 25 years later it’s not a more standard thing. However I’m totally happy to not reach across the cab and try to roll down a window while driving.
  18. Auto up and down window switches

As a fellow Ranger owner I can understand the frustration. I had a ā€˜95 VW Jetta that had Auto up/down on all 4 doors. As a mechanic whose owned over 27 vehicles, many with no power options at all, I say ā€œfirst world problemsā€. Lol. We have definitely become accustomed to the luxuries in life.
  19. Aftermarket armor

Just found these guys. Hoping to find some more detailed pictures, but they have options to just buy the skids you need. https://589fab.com/collections/ranger-armor-skids-support-brackets/products/ranger-skid-plates
  20. Aftermarket armor

How do the Shrockworks skids affect access for the engine drain plug?
