Funny! I also traded in my Civic Si for the Ranger. It was a red 2020 4dr. I'm very familiar with CivicX. Loved the car but being a new homeowner and having a little one on the way my wife and I wanted something with a bit more utility.
Curious, were there any other vehicles you closely...
Congrats on the new truck! You must be so excited.
Coming from a Civic, the things that stood out to me immediately were the ride height (I can see EVERYTHING!!), the engine sound and speed, the bouncy suspension, and one of the most unsatisfying brake feels on a modern vehicle ever I'd...
Looks great! I've also got OEM 18" wheels and am shopping tires.
With the lift, do you think you could go any larger than this on the tires before rubbing? Or do you feel that's pretty close to the limit?
I don't think they've officially announced it yet. The Bronco Sport (Badlands trim) is also AWD and has an ecoboost 2.0 and is rated at 21 city / 26 highway. I'd guess close to that.
Hello!
Sorry if off-topic. I've been eyeing a suspension package on your site.
Does your company offer a promo code for forum members to help with the price? I was a member of a Mustang forum a while back and there was a fairly large vendor there who offered a code for members, it was like 5%...
Gosh, I hate to be a wet blanket but there are a few things to consider when looking at this data:
1) Tacoma continues to extend its sizeable lead
2) At its current pace Gladiator is set to grab 2nd very soon
3) The new gen Frontier is looking great and will drop any day now. Will take sales...
Thank you for sharing your firsthand experience. I've installed aftermarket performance tunes on past vehicles (2008 Mustang GT, 2014 Mustang GT, and 2020 Civic Si) and my experience has always ranged from slightly-worse-to-unchanged MPG when tuning. I've never seen improved MPG. Even when being...
If that's true then now I can't get past that there is a regulation that requires a manufacturer to design their vehicle in a way in which it burns more fuel than necessary (stock tune). That seems counter-productive for reducing emissions?
You're probably right, I just don't know enough about...
I don't think it has to do with emissions/EPA, at least for the Ford Performance tune. The product description includes this message:
"...this part has been determined by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) not to have an adverse effect on emissions when installed and used properly in the...
This has been a very interesting discussion so far!
I had questions in regards to how a performance tune can increase MPG. I see this mentioned a lot as a pro of installing a performance tune. How does that work though? To make more power with less fuel? What are the third party tuning...
I've had many different vehicles from different manufacturers and am a particularly picky person in that I'd notice every single flaw in a vehicle and they'd dig at me. I can relate to how Chuck feels because I've been there. You feel like you got the "bad" one of the batch.
But once you learn...
In the Houston area I'd say I see about 1 other Ranger on average per day. Sometimes they even wave which is nice.
I don't really mind being outnumbered by other trucks. As long as Ford sells enough Rangers to make it worthwhile to keep making it, I'd be satisfied. To drive the most popular...
I could not find a good deal on New inventory in the Houston area. Dealers were firm at (or slightly above) MSRP. Plus their "dealer add-ons" to rub salt in the wound.
Started looking at Used and scored a great deal at CarMax. Got my 12.4k miles supercrew 2019 Lariat FX4 equipped with every...
I researched all of my options before pulling the trigger on the Ranger. In the end it came down to the more capable and exciting powertrain of the Ranger, its interior size/ergonomics, and I just think it looks neat.
My thoughts on the competition:
Tacoma: Drum brakes (on a $40k vehicle in...
I think it looks pretty sharp! To call it competition against the Ranger is maybe a stretch though? I see this as being more in line with the Maverick and even Ridgeline (Unibody, AWD). A softer alternative to a traditional truck that's perfectly adequate for light work and running around town...
Hah you guys are too much. Thank you all for the warm welcome and advice.
I look forward to learning and lot from you all and hopefully sharing a lot too.
I don't know! I REALLY love how quick these trucks can be for how unassuming they look, sort of like a sleeper, but I think I like how it is stock for now :). I'll make a deal with you guys - if (when) I get a tune, I'll make a post and let you all know.
