Thanks for the report. I've got the OEM Hankooks on my 4x4. I've only had a few opportunities to seriously challenge them here in Western Montana so far. Snow has been no problem and have only had to use 4H a couple of times. Haven't yet tested them on serious ice, which is my main concern...
2000 miles and ours look like new. But will be paying attention to this. Yeah, after 60 miles I'd consider than unacceptable.
My response to your dealer would be: Would you want people considering buying the premium level Ranger to see this?
I've been meaning to ask about this. I have yet to try premium. The manual gives little guidance beyond suggesting using premium when towing, and offers no pros/cons either way.
I had been getting 20 in town and 21-22 on the highway (70-80 mph) before the winter blend hit and it dropped about...
Another consideration is at at some point in the future when some aspect of the electronics that run the truck irredeemably clusters, Ford can't come back at you and void your warranty because you modified the electrical system.
It took me about a month to learn and get used to the behavior of the auto-off. Its behavior is relatively consistent once you understand its parameters, like engine being warm and the difference between outside and cabin temperature. When outside temps dropped into the 20s, I noticed that it...
Test drove the Tacoma before settling on the Ranger and my impressions were pretty much the same as yours. I'm 6'2", and found the driving position uncomfortable and couldn't imagine long trips in it. The Ranger had far superior handling, especially on the highway.
Thanks for the confirmation. I suspect my Ranger has a bit of a story to it considering that it had 60 miles on it by the time it got into my hands. I'll go ahead and torque those down myself then.
I noticed that the nuts that are theoretically securing my engine shroud are lock-type and are not screwed all the way down. It looks as though the original nuts were removed for some reason and these substituted for some reason before I took delivery of my Ranger.
I'll be having my dealer...
Strange. Before purchasing our Ranger we drove most of the mid-sized pickups and settled on the Ranger because it was the most comfortable. It's also the best handling truck on the highway I've driven. We're quite pleased.
Yes, if you're expecting a car-like ride you will may be...
This is one of the best parts: Fits in garage with room to spare. Am able to walk around front and back without having to squeeze. Can open tailgate and load with garage door closed, which is a big deal in the winter.
Unfortunately, that's the reality these days. 2 years ago, I got rear-ended by a couple of meth heads who then took off. A few minutes later, I found where they parked a few blocks away and fled into an apartment building. Police arrived. I was expecting a perp-walk, but the officer walks...
Cab. We already have a comfortable 4-door car for when we have passengers. I pulled the seats-in-name-only out of the back and use the space purely as storage. The suicide doors make loading and unloading the back a breeze.
I also live in a community dominated by full-size trucks. I didn't want one for many of the same reasons above:
. I'm a "less is more" kind of guy. Paying for more capability than I'll almost never need is a waste on multiple levels.
. Easier to drive and park around town.
. My wife is...
