The reason they got authorization for a diagnosis is because until they look at it they don't know if it is warranty. If there was a part failure it will definitely be covered, but you wouldn't believe how often there is rodent damage to wires causing a wire short or something silly like that...
I can't wait to see your mounting solutions for the new door speakers and the tweeters! When I pulled the panel and saw the proprietary speaker mount thing I cringed. I was hoping it would be as simple as bolting in a new speaker.
This mild of a tune really shouldn't effect reliability much on this engine. Keep in mind it is essentially a Focus RS engine with forged components, and this tune is bringing it up to about the same HP the RS has from the factory.
BUT the warranty response the guy gave was such a non-answer...
I work for a Ford dealer, and they charge 3.5 hours for the leveling kit install including alignment. My dealer charges $75 per hour for accessory installations if the part is bought from the dealer. Normal hourly rate is $130.
No modification can automatically void a warranty, but Ford can...
There doesn't seem to be any issues. I dont think I've bottomed out at full lock, but I've definitely compressed the suspension a lot at full lock hitting a steep driveway near my house pretty hard.
So far I'm loving the change. I think it is what an FX4 Offroad package should look like from the factory.
I'm not sure if it is because of the leveling kit or the tires, but the truck immediately rode quite a bit smoother. Before I would feel like a chassis oscillation when hitting bigger...
I got the Rough Country leveling kit and 275/65 18 Toyo Rough Country AT2 tires installed today. The look is exactly what I was looking for, and I couldn't be happier. The tires aren't any louder than the Hankooks, the ride is very similar, and there is no rubbing so far. I haven't hit any bumps...
The factory Lariat speakers are surprisingly decent, but they don't compare to the B&O clarity. The most important parts of the upgraded system are the subwoofer and the center dash speaker, which provide good lows and a nice sound stage.
I'm going to pull the door panels and probably upgrade...
