  1. Theory on fuel in oil.

From my post earlier, I tried several different driving styles, and it did not make a difference if I drove it "like I stole it" or if I drove it "like a little old lady on her way to church". In fact it did not make much difference if it was hot or cold out, although the oil level did seem to...
  2. Theory on fuel in oil.

I believe i have this problem worse than most and I have driven 20,000+ miles with it. I'll spare most of the background, but will note Ford replaced the HPFP, all 4 injectors twice, the oil separator system, and all high pressure fuel lines with no improvement. Compression and leak-down tests...
  3. How much fuel will ruin this engine?

2850 miles and only at the max level hole, I would not be worried about that at all, seems to be normal. The 7.4qts drained earlier seems excessive, but you are nowhere near that now. 3/8in above the twist is about 7.8qts and seems to be as bad as it gets. My truck will climb to that point...
  4. Fuel in oil

I've had 3 tests sent out by the dealer, and one sample taken by a tech from Ford who came to my dealership with the regional Field Service Engineer. The first one was 12% at 500 miles on an oil change. The second one was 13% with 2100 miles on the oil change. The 13% was after they replaced...
  5. Fuel in oil

I would love to be at 2.8%, hell anything under 7% and I would be thrilled. A/C is working, it only took them 15 months to find the leak, at least it did up until it got cold out. I will know for sure come spring. Unfortunately, looks like my battery has finally went. It was at the dealer on...
  6. Fuel in oil

I don't think anyone has had it worse than me? I have had my Auto S/S disabled since I bought it. I just use the night-lite option for that. For what it's worth, I live in the sticks and never take short drives. My commute to work each day is 50 miles round trip, 90% interstate.
  7. Check Brake System

Dangnamit, the day after the dealership told me the battery tested good, I woke up to a dead battery. 4.7V, too low for my battery tender to even start charging. Stuck at home. Needed to call a friend to bring over a 10 amp charger. After about 3hrs, it was up to 11.7V and I was able to start...
  8. Fuel in oil

If the level is that high and it wasn't overfilled to begin with, from my experience that would be over 13% fuel dilution. I had both 12% and 13% fuel dilution and both were just below the twist. Those tests were taken and sent out by the Ford dealer. There are copies of both tests posted...
  9. Check Brake System

Just an idea. This was definitely a safety issue and might be worth reporting to NHTSA. Well, I hope, at the very least, that this thread will help anyone who may encounter the same issue. When this happened, I was totally caught off guard, not knowing exactly what was going on except for my...
  10. Check Brake System

Sorry about that but the "Once again Ford gets blamed for the problems of the world" rubbed me the wrong way. And there most definitely was a reason your master cylinder went out and why my truck did what it did. The question is how much effort should be expended in to determining the cause...
  11. Check Brake System

I get what your saying, but when it's a safety issue, there should be at least a minimum amount of investigation that goes beyond, "it seems to be fine now"? As for the loaner, I have the extended warranty, so that has been prepaid.......
  12. Check Brake System

In my experience, unfortunately mostly with the Ranger, Ford is hamstringing the dealers and not allowing them to diagnose a problem properly, unless it fits a tight list of criteria. An example would be that I spent most of the summer of 2020 and part of 2021 without AC in my 40k+ truck. At...
  13. Check Brake System

About the weather in WI, I was being sarcastic, I thought it was obvious? And, it's a random issue that could kill someone. It was only double digits when it happened. I have owned this truck nearly 3 years, literally dozens of mornings were much much colder, hell it was 23 below on Tuesday...
  14. Check Brake System

Just got home from the dealership. They pulled 2 codes: P050F Brake assist vacuum too low P0555 Brake booster pressure sensor circuit They said it must have been due to the cold weather and everything looks good now. I need to let them know if it happens again. Yeah, I live in Wisconsin, so...
  15. Check Brake System

It wasn't that bad this morning, I think it was even double digits. I was thinking it had to be a failure of the vacuum assist, but it felt much worse than having manual brakes. I mean I was pushing on that pedal with everything I had to get slowed down. Also, the ABS groaning sound felt like...
  16. Check Brake System

    Yes, it is a Lariat.
  17. Check Brake System

I didn't even think about that, I was in total panic mode, luckily there was no one in front of me at the time. I checked for codes with my torque app and nothing shows up, so it will probably be a wasted trip to the dealer?
  18. Check Brake System

I had a pretty good scare on my way to work this morning. About 22 miles into my 25 mile commute, I was exiting off the highway and when I started braking, the brake pedal was not moving, and the truck was not slowing down. I am a big guy, and I ended up slowing the truck down, but I was...
  19. Reporting Fuel In The Oil issues And Other Issues To The NHTSA

My truck has 10% + fuel dilution after only 500 miles, is this acceptable? According to Ford it is. Actually 12% fuel dilution is the lowest for the oil samples taken for my truck, which were all taken and sent out by the Ford. The general statement you make about DI engines and oil change...
