I would think that changing the oil more often (3000 miles) with a standard oil is better than using a full synthetic oil for extended oil changes. I guess using full synthetic and changing oil sooner might be better, but awfully expensive.
We don't need Ford Ranger fanboys doing Ford's PR job for them. Ford denied there was a problem with the Pinto's gas tank and the Focus transmission. Until too many exploding Pintos and shaking Foci forced them to acknowledge they had a problem.
Any fuel getting into the oil is not ideal.
You have no way of knowing that oil dilution is a problem on only a small number of trucks. And there is no proof other than a few posters here speculating that driving style is the cause. Driving style is not an acceptable reason for fuel dilution.
Just took my Ranger for an oil change at a Ford dealership and they topped off all the fluids. Why in the world would a vehicle with fewer than 20k miles need any topping off? So my fluids are above the recommended levels. If Ford dealerships aren't going to train their employees any better...

While not a Taco owner, my ride for the past 16 years has been a 2003 Tundra. It has 280k trouble-free miles. Honestly, if either the Tacoma or Tundra weren't so ancient, I would have likely bought one instead of a Ranger.
