From a quick Gooble search:
The Tire Industry Association (TIA) and general consensus recommend installing lug nuts dry, with clean threads and seats, as torque specifications are set for dry conditions to prevent over-tightening and stud stretching, which lubrication can cause by significantly...
Last year I figured out how to put power outlets in the bed using the square holes in the sides. This year I'm trying to figure out how to tap the tail light harness connections for a light bar that won't confuse the computers (as when plugging into the trailer light connector) and don't need...
I know this is an old thread but I finally got around to building my version of the "no drilling or cutting needed" power outlet mod using the obround holes in the sides of the bed. I used both on the driver side and built it around PowerPole knockoffs. The rectangular hole used by the popular...
For me, small gains were had by adding a bed cover and running premium gas with no ethanol. Not sure if the second is an option for you or if the improvement will pay back the higher price.
I used their mounting arm and attached it to the dash tray using some case-builder hardware and a base I got off Azn. Wire routing PITA but finally went out passenger side. C930. Nice location
Not all the time. While driving around town I like that it keeps lower gear and downshifts a little better when I lift. Otherwise it tries to keep my speed and lugs the engine, forcing me to brake on (e.g.) speed zones, downhill coasting, and so on. Old truck taught me how to drive different...
There is (was) another article within the same time frame, discussing specifically trucks. One complaint IIRC was related to forward visibility getting worse, another was the size, etc. This is also a good article here. Thanks for posting!
I have an aluminum cross-bed toolbox (carrying some vital things!) and a custom-built aluminum tri-fold bed cover, along with the DZ rubber bed mat, and a Curt trailer hitch, mostly added soon after I bought it. Maybe 300# (400?)? Never seemed bad (after about 17 years in a Sport Trac. But it's...
I slightly recall an article several months back that talked about EPA regs and the "shadow" & wheelbase as drivers--larger vehicles (perversely) have incentives over smaller, and the ranges move every few years, thus the bloating of every pickup line since (my guess) 1980. It happened with the...
Hey, Boss--as I recall you've tried to back away at least once before but you keep getting sucked back in. If this is again and still your goal, I wish you the best. I'm a mostly lurker who has enjoyed your many posts with stories of the good old days, and your frequent insights. Be well sir...
Sorry for the late input, and just to confuse things a bit more:
You >might< try going with a 1/4-20 UNC ( 'merca) Thread-forming screw (or tap) in that shelled M6x1.00 threaded hole--the major dia is larger (about .010~.015") and the "tap drill" would be a little off (old hole maybe...
Thanks.
Concern about tearing out was why I set as many anchor screws as I could find places for. It's actually pretty solid.
But the metal inside the box is pretty thin. And seems a little soft (a drawing grade, maybe?).
I found some plated Unistrut channel and some riv-nut type anchors. the channel was punched with 9/16" holes (!) but there was lots of room in between to drill some smaller ones (I think I used 5/16). Once those were drilled I clamped them against the bed inside, under the rails where there's a...
the language is a little confusing--"front passenger outboard seatbelt" but it applies to both--driver and right-side occupants are both front passengers. Mine are both fine.
Sorry if someone else noted this already.
Be safe.

I see you already bought but I'll do a +1 for Falken Wildpeaks--I had them on my Sport Trac for a couple of years and when I traded it for the Ranger. I live on 2 miles of "gravel" and they were fine--snow and mud, dry pavement. Quiet enough and never had a flat (experience: 1 or 2 a year...
Not sure how you meant to spin this, but:
My impression as a consumer reading the stories as they came out was that the "Firestone Debacle" was more the result of deficient suspension (riding like a truck) and pressure from Ford executives on Firestone that if they wanted to continue to sell...
Had a(2-dr) S-10 Blazer centuries ago, bought used with extra-large tires on it. Between the short wheelbase and those balloons on the corners it rode like a rockin' horse. Somebody stole it from a parking lot--good riddance. (Did lose a tie I liked that was inside, oh well....)
