This has been a little confusing. The original production start date was Nov 26th. Back on October 22nd Ford had that big press conference at the Michigan plant and announced they were going to start production early I think on Oct 29th. I was under the impression that it was just a bunch of...
What does being a 4WD have to do with it? An AWD always has power to both axles and is a much bigger drag on MPG then a 4wd system where the transfer case removes power from the front axle while in 2wd mode. (I don't know if that answers your question but that is what the context of the...
If the seats are all the back it's a little tight but with my 5'8 wife driving there was plenty of room if you fill the truck with 5 6'2+ guys it will be a little tight but not terrible leg room wise.
Head room was amazing at 6'2 there was easily 6" additional head room
Even though we were in traffic and stopped at several lights the start stop newer cycled. We were early in day so maybe the truck wasn't warm enough not sure but he said the system was on. I asked the demo driver about it and he said by the time you take your foot off the brake and move it to...
I played with the parking sensors today and from the 5 minute demo they seemed to work great. My wife pulled forward and was worried she was going to hit the truck in front of us but the parking sensors guided us to a stop with about a foot gap.
Reversed along with the back up camera work great...
Luckily I check this when I went to lunch.
I asked several of the drivers and they all said they were using regular unleaded. One said she put 93 in once when she was towing. She wasn't sure if it changed anything because she hadn't tried it without.
My test driver said he was getting around...
I could be wrong but I think most trailers being pulled by something the size of the ranger will have an inertia trailer. At least that was how I interpreted their rating.
I committed to buying one sight unseen back in September. I'm usually hesitant to be an early adopter for many of the reason you stated above but am some what comforted by the fact that it is heavily based off the global version.
Funny you bring this up I was contemplating starting a thread...
I was concerned that the Keypad would delay my order so I asked my salesman and he checked and said that it didn't show any commodity shortages on my truck.
I played around at fueleconmy.gov with the F150 2wd and 4wd's. With the F150's there was a loss of 1 to 2 MPG with the 2.7 Ecoboost. I think the biggest factor in mileage will be how often we wind up the turbo. I 'm confident that the people that drive the new Ranger to maximize fuel mileage...
There is a button in front of the shift lever that disables start/stop. It does reset every time you shut the engine off so you will have to shut it off every time you start the truck. Honestly once you get used to it you will probably won't bother shutting it off it's pretty seamless.
I think your dealership forgot that this is new production roll out and quoted you a build time on a current production model. kep is spot on as for the time line. OKTB is "ok to build" and that is established when the production line is putting out trucks consistently with out problems.
The xl and xlt don't have smart keys so you can just leave the keys inside and hit the door lock before you close the door. The Lariat has a smart key so I'm not sure but I think you can hit a lock code on the keyless entry pad to lock the keys inside but again not 100% sure on that.
Other uses...
From what I understand the reason the F150's are beating the MPG in the real world is the turbo(ecoboost). When driving the truck fast or towing the turbo kicks in and it burns a ton gas. If you are just cruising and not smashing the gas and winding up the turbo it gets much better fuel results...
It's a 4wd not an AWD so the front Differential spins free unless the 4x4 is engaged and the transfer case sends power to it. For regular driving the only difference to MPG is a little extra weight from the 4x4 equipment and the small loss from friction from the front differential spinning free...
I've driven a suv with start stop and although for the most part I'm not a fan, once you get used to it you don't even notice it. As for running stop signs it doesn't turn off immediately so if you are at a stop sign your not going to be stopped long enough for it to shut off. The only annoying...
This now makes sense. My dealer took my order then asked me to come back by with a copy of a deposit and a copy of my DL to speed up my order. They didn't cash the check just needed it and my DL as proof of an actual purchase.
