We both live in IL and my house was built in '95. I'm not sure what you mean by blocking the exit. I have a side door and it's blocked by any vehicle that's parked on that side.
This is the first vehicle in over 35 years that I'm leaving it on. It's required in my state (IL), but I've gotten away without it. Just one real ticket and about 3 warnings over that period. The Ranger just doesn't look much different with or without it on.

With all the chip shortages we keep hearing about, how is it that most manufactures are having record breaking May sales? Ford hasn't reported yet, but everyone else seems to be selling at a crazy pace.
I haven't noticed this in the month I've owned my Ranger. But, I like it way better that the physical switch that most vehicles come with. I can't count the number of times I've accidently flipped it and locked someone in the back seat.
