    6. Usually transmission failure? Is this the power train fault that randomly pops up when I am doing 70 on the hwy? I've tried to track the issue but it resets itself when I turn the truck off.
  2. Is 30k miles worth $2k

In response to some of the questions. I have been quoted a head gasket repair and a replacement motor from several shops. The price was about 2k difference with the caveat that there might be lower block damage. After doing some digging here on the forum and online I have found that Ford did...

  4. 2021 Ranger XLT Screw Block Defect/Head Gasket

My head gasket is a goner. 99k on the truck and started having issues similar to a battery going bad and even when I ran the code a bad battery was one of the fixes. I was trying to get off of work to by a battery but then while leaving work it was dumping white smoke - everybody knows what that...
  5. detailed description for how to change out the alternator?

It definitely killed it. Searched the entire Austin, TX area for a replacement and only found one at a salvage yard. Ford wanted $660 for one after the CORE - to the hell no! Keeping in the spirit of this thread, changing the alternator wasn't hard. The only word to the wise is the tensioner...

So what your saying is... this will kill an alternator?
  7. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Took some inspiration from @dangerranger16 and put in an overhead switch panel while installing my ditch lights. Got the Nilight Pods from a guy at work for $10. Couldn't beat the price. Also snapped the negative post sensor in the process and had to epoxy it back together.
  8. What is this? The main reason I joined is because not even the dealer knew the answer

Went to look at a bronco sport the local dealership had and ended up showing and telling the salesman all kinds of info about the baby bronc. The one that jaw dropped me was that he didn't know what unibody was... how do you sell vehicles and not know what a unibody is!?? ? P.s. not even close...
  9. Look at my Ranger parked next to stuff

Thank you. We had all just sat down at the table for dinner when the whole house shook and the tree was in the living room... A family that eats together stays together.
  10. Look at my Ranger parked next to stuff

Parked next to my house, which had my 60ft. oak tree through the roof and ceiling due to hurricane Delta. Sustained only a flat tire on the passenger side which I didn't notice while taking the picture.
  11. What is something you love, and something you dislike about the Ranger?

Love: the truck overall Dislike: no 60/40 split seat in the back and lack of useful storage in the cab.
  12. Anyone else getting a lot of paint chips on their ranger?

I have noticed a lot of chipping as well. From the good to the side panels, especially on the edges of the doors. I started being extra cautious of opening my door because the paint chipping is getting so bad. Not paint related but a side note, I also noticed the rear door seals getting holes...

  16. Cleanliness is Rangerness

I luckily have a leaf blower I will try out at my next wash. I will also order the 303 before that and give it a try.
  17. Cleanliness is Rangerness

Never even crossed my mind to use a blower of any sort to help dry. I've been a chamois guy ever my job as a detailer at BMW/MINI (almost 20yrs. ago). I am going to have to give this a try. I've also heard lots of good things about 303 products but have never given them a go. I started using...
  18. Cleanliness is Rangerness

Fair enough. Fair enough. I live down on the gulf coast where the salty conditions are a way of life, especially if you make a beach run on the weekends.
  19. Cleanliness is Rangerness

I also use a pivot style yard sprinkler. Sit back crack a beer and let it go back and forth. A little while later I will move it until the whole bottom is cleaned off. I was told that using a pressure washer on the under carriage blows away some of the grease and oil that need to be there.
