Ahh, the 340. After my Vietnam cruise I bought a 71 Dodge Demon with 340, 727 transmission and factory 4:11 gears. What an awesome car. The guy I sold it to totaled it within 24 hours. Should of kept it.
Northern Nevada high desert can get cold. 19 degrees this morning and it's been single digits a few times this winter. I would say mostly short trips. I live 7 miles out of town so typical use is around 15 miles round trip. About the only time it gets an extended drive lately is if head out...
Got my Blackstone results recently. I had a "trace" of fuel with just under 4k miles on the oil. My oil level has been stable and does not smell like fuel. The trace may be because it's cold here and I may not be getting the oil up to full temp lately. Anyway, I'll take it. Here is the...
Got a Blackstone report back a couple of days ago. It shows a "trace" of fuel with just under 4k miles. My oil level has been stable and does not smell like gasoline so I'll take it.
Couple more thoughts. These engines sure beat up oil. There is no way I would be going over 5k miles for an...
Having been a cop for 25 years and dealing/working with lawyers there are not many I respect.
And have you ever noticed most politicians are lawyers?? I don't have respect for most of those either.
Nice rig. I'm curios to know how that brake controller is working out for you and where you took the brake pedal signal.
I have the same controller from when I had my Frontier. In that it was plug and play with the correct harness.
You'll be pleasantly surprised by how well the Ranger tows...
You would probably be ok with 85 octane but I would stick with the minimum recommended 87 octane. For warranty reasons if nothing else. Personally I put 91 octane in my Ranger.
A new station offered 85 octane here for a while. I don't think it went over well as all the pumps were relabeled...
I bought the Fox/Ford Performance kit. Installed the rear shocks myself. The local dealer quoted me 3 hrs labor to R&R the front struts. They said they could not do the alignment as their alignment machine was not set up for the Ranger.
Anyway, I had the dealer do the struts and used my Ford...
I've been pondering the same thing. Every UOA I've seen on the Rangers has shown thinned oil. Even those that don't seem to have a problem with fuel in the oil. My recent WIX UOA showed my oil was sheered down to a 20w in less than 4,000 miles.
I may try a run of M1 0w-40 next oil change.
Changed the oil and filter yesterday. M1 5w-30 Extended Protection and MC FL910s filter. Also means I got to use the ValvoMax drain valve. Worked pretty good. Did not have to remove the skid plate. I used a large 2.5 gallon jug to drain the oil into. Getting an oil sample was as easy as...
