Wow Bill, what a timely post!
I got my baseplate today and will start the same project tomorrow, ReadyBrake and all.
It looks like you drilled the brake pedal for the cable. I think that’s better than their clamp on thing. Speaking of cables, this will be my third ReadyBrake installation and...
Woody,
I’m getting ready to install ReadyBrake. Any hints on where to bring the brake cable through the firewall? It was a nightmare on my C Max with its packed engine compartment plus serious penalties for drilling into big orange wires.
As I mentioned above, I spent 50 years in brake design and development. I’ve made more high speed, max effort stops on everything from motorcycles to semis than you can imagine. I know how to stop a vehicle and I know crappy brake feel when I see it. And I know when the torque converter unlocks...
Have not been to dealer yet. Not looking forward to it. Dealer Standard Answer will be “They all do that!” And then I will become increasingly impolite and then the troubles will begin.
Regarding Brake Feel, there are numerous discussions about that on this forum. Trust me, and most of my...
Since day one of my ownership, I’ve been frustrated driving this thing in traffic. Smooth stops are almost impossible for two reasons: First this thing has the worst brake pedal feel since Model T mechanical brakes. Second, the transmission does weird things as the vehicle comes to a stop. As...
Thanks for the idea. I made one along the same design but I used 1/2” plywood cut into four 12” strips. Much cheaper and lighter but plenty strong. I needed something quick to haul drywall and happened to see your post just in time to save the day.
Same problem here. Need to load 350 lb bike without dying or becoming permanently disabled. Narrow ramp walking up is problematic due to muscle power required and need for 6 foot long legs. Riding up ramps is a problem at the beginning when front wheel starts up and your feet no longer reach...
On another forum, I read of a couple of F150 guys who believe their trashed transmissions were the result of the transfer case dropping out of neutral when the battery ran down while truck was being towed. Lots of vehicles drain the battery for all sorts of reasons while being towed. Electric...
Went to pick up my new truck today which dealer had located for me. Recall now is “Do Not Sell” and they they can’t deliver it and parts not available until January. If I wait, I’ll miss the $5k in rebates which expire soon. I think they are misreading something.
