Thanks for the idea. I made one along the same design but I used 1/2” plywood cut into four 12” strips. Much cheaper and lighter but plenty strong. I needed something quick to haul drywall and happened to see your post just in time to save the day.

Also remember, in a ramp situation, the tailgate never bears the entire weight of the bike. At most only half the bike's weight.

Went to pick up my new truck today which dealer had located for me. Recall now is “Do Not Sell” and they they can’t deliver it and parts not available until January. If I wait, I’ll miss the $5k in rebates which expire soon. I think they are misreading something.
