  1. The Black Beast of AAAAGGGHHHHHH!

If I think of it I'll grab a picture of the spare as it sits on the truck now
  2. The Black Beast of AAAAGGGHHHHHH!

No, I replaced all 5 tires, the discoverer at3 4s list a diameter of 31.6....it fits, but it's tight. But the hsnkook spare was pretty tight also...mostly due to my aftermarket curt hitch
  3. The Black Beast of AAAAGGGHHHHHH!

I've had worse....look you stoopid bahstid, your arm's off! no it's not I could go all night. But seriously, with the windshield replaced, camera recalibrated, and the speedo correction inputed for the new (265/70/17 Cooper disco at3 4s @34 psi) tires, I did a mini rolling circunference...
  4. Is a DIY (Do It Yourself) oil/filter change worth it ?

Early on, when I started doing my own services, it was NAPA oil and filters ...then wallyworld showed up, so ot was FRAM and castrol oil...that kept a 76 corolla, an 84 escort and an 84 EXP HO going. The worst was the EXP. Then I traded for an 89 Probe and since the one trip to jiffy lube where...
  5. Is a DIY (Do It Yourself) oil/filter change worth it ?

When I bought my truck, my chatty car dealer was like:"you are gonna bring the truck here for services, right?" and "you don't change your own oil, do you?"...."NO" and "YES" were my responses. I took one look at the motley crew of grease monkeys they had out back and that was that. Not that it...
  6. 2.7L ecoboost swap.

I am with several others that if I were to change anything on my Ranger I'd do a stick swap (out of a mustang, most likely)...I'd be tons of fun to row my own on that 2.3 turbo!
  7. Tail of the Dragon

I remember doing the dragon's tail on a booze run to Knoxville from where we were surveying a stream back in 2000....did it on a rental again the following winter (way more interesting then). By the way, are the half-bike and boots still stuck to the side of one of the switchbacks? I have a...
  8. Had a serious issue off-roading, ranger design flaw?

It sounded like you were running in 4 low...do tremors come with drive modes like mud, sand snow, etc? My FX4's version has a grass/grave/snow mode that put's the truck in 4H...I personally use 4H plus manual shift in snow. Bummer about the brake issue. The only thing that's ever happened to me...
  9. The Black Beast of AAAAGGGHHHHHH!

Here is a picture of the new look....plus the cracked windshield. All good now
  10. The Black Beast of AAAAGGGHHHHHH!

well, the new windshield is in (OE thank goodness!) and all is well. BTW I have 4 OE Dynapros plus a brand new spare if anyone is interested-side note: the Hankooks weren't necessarily "bad" tires...they were pretty quiet, got decent MPG, good in the wet and dirt but not so good in the...
  11. The Black Beast of AAAAGGGHHHHHH!

Wow! It's been a while since I've done anything to the beast but drive it....after 19,300 miles, I replaced my stock Hankook Dynapro ATM 265-65-17's with Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S in 265-70-17. Adjusted the tire size with FORSCAN from 2390 (stock) to 2437 (tire circunference in mm). The next day...
  12. Upgrading Factory 4" Sync Lite Display (300A)

there is already a tread about this....https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/upgrading-factory-4-sync-lite-display-300a.5597/
  13. Ford News EV Bronco and Ranger

What is worse, or ironic, is how they clear-cut forests (i.e. CO2 absorbing TREES!) to put up solar farms...on my way up to camp in Waterford, ME, I noticed at least three "solar farms" of a couple hundred acres each; acres that used to have thousands of CO2 sponges (and oxygen makers) called...
  14. Ford News EV Bronco and Ranger

Until we can figure out how to make the sun shine at night so solar panels (or wind turbines, since wind is a product of solar radiation) can charge all those EV's AND run our refrigerators, ranges, ovens, AC's heat pumps, lightbulbs, IPads, Iphones, etc; an all-EV world is but a pipe dream. The...
  15. My father-in-laws '99 Ranger

Oh boy, a '99 with a stick....I owned a '98 XLT supercab 4x4 "off-road" (the precursor to the FX4) that I LOVED! I literally cried when I sold it eight years and 177K miles later...I'd do my best to keep it if I were you
  16. Why Is This Port in the Bumper?

Please don't quote me, but I think it has to do with aerodynamic flow around the turning wheels or wheel wells...or something like that. Sorry I couldn't be much help
  17. What was your first Ford daily driver?

My first Ford daily driver was a 1984 Ford Escort L 2-door hatchback with a 1.6l 4-banger and four speed manual...fun little car...bought it in '86 after I finished OSUT
  18. Worried about binding in 4H

Your tires will wear out faster and if you did it all the time (and I know some people that come November they throw'em in 4H and leave it there till spring), your U-joints and CV joints will go....an occasional oopsie in 4H wont harm you
  19. Snowmageddon in Texas

I'm not saying accidents won't happen or there isn't nuclear waste to deal with; what I said is nuclear power is way more reliable than the renewable options available today, especially during 40-yr weather events. I heard about gas plants shutting down because of the cold but not the nuke...
