  1. Saying goodbye to my beloved Ranger 😪

    I still have 2 trucks. I kept my ā€˜98 Chevy 2500 when I bought my ā€˜21 Ranger.
  2. Portable vs. Fixed Air Compressors: Which Side Are You On?

That Viair is the way to go for travel. I have a knockoff. It’s okay for me, but I’m not off-roading. If I was, I’d get the Viair. I’m strongly on the portable side because I have several vehicles, and several trailers. It’s way cheaper, faster, easier for me to use portable.
  3. A Win In The Ranger Column

I like my scab Ranger except for the 6’ bed. It’s not even a full 6’. If I could get it with an 8’ bed, and 48 1/2ā€ between the wheel wells, it would be a great truck. Just big enough to do that, and nothing more. I’d even go standard cab to get an 8’ bed.
  4. Fluid Disposal - Where to go?

My used fluids go to Walmart and having spent 25 years in Alaska I’d suggest you stay away from the fermented walrus flipper for dinner.
  5. Ford or WeatherTech mudflaps?

I have WeatherTech and they have been fine.
  6. Newbie to towing with a bunch of questions!

I do really like my Equalizer hitch, but there are other good hitches as well. The Equalizer is heavy, so keep that in mind.
  7. Never Forget!

There are only two events that have hit me like 9/11. I was an itinerant counselor in three Inupiat Eskimo villages in northwest Alaska. The shutting down of all flights immediately sent us back to the Stone Age. No food could come in, no medical support, those that depended on checks via the...
  8. Leaving The Ranger Community....Whoa Is Me....Whoa Is Me.....

There are few folks on the Escape Trailer forum towing with them. They seem to like them.
  9. Finally got a Bestop Colapsable Rear step but..........

I have the DeeZee. It works well. I wondered about hanging up or busting my shin on it, but it’s never been a problem, so I’m glad I saved the money.
  10. Finally got a Bestop Colapsable Rear step but..........

I tried to get one for months in 2021 and also gave up.
  11. boat towing on the ball

I have a Catalina 18 sailboat I tow. Just as always, keep weight forward as much as you can. The boat will be heavier on the backend due to beam alone.
  12. MBS Extended Automatic Transmission Dipsticks now available

Measure it after work before heading home. It will be cold and eliminate having to find a way to get temps if you don’t have a gauge.
  13. Auto insurance increases

Shop around. My Safeco bundle went up 40% one year. I got better coverage and saved $1000 when I jumped to Auto-Owners.
  14. Trans Temps

Typically towing on the flats I’m around 200.
  15. Trans Temps

I’ve only seen consistently over 212 when towing 17% grade up and down outside Big Bend. Trailer is 4650lbs. 7x8 frontal area.
  16. Is the Patagonia AT Pro the perfect tire?

There is no perfect tire. Everyone’s needs are different and each tire is trying to balance a set of compromises. The same is true for the vehicles we put them on.
  17. How much fuel will ruin this engine?

I finally just couldn’t stand it any longer and had to say it!
  18. How much fuel will ruin this engine?

How much fuel will ruin this engine? Well we are on page 6. In the meantime, every time I need fuel, I just keep getting more and running it through the engine. Eventually, in several years, I’ll be able to answer this question when my engine wears out. :)
  19. Oil changes when towing 3500 lb. trailer

15mpg in my Ranger still beats 13 in my 2500, but the 19 gallon tank does not beat the 34 gallon tank. After 4 hours, I’m old enough I want a stretch break anyway.
