  1. What did you do to your Ranger today?

I finally got around to installing my Fitzstick today. The process took 2 hours: ~1.5 hours to clean out a mouse nest, and ~20 minutes to actually install the dipstick tube. The mice built a massive nest of twigs and grass behind the engine (between engine and firewall), on top of the...
  2. Clicking sound w/heat

Interestingly, mine was built in April 2021 (first batch of rangers with steel front fenders after the transition from aluminum). The heat in mine also does a clicking thing sometimes. Usually it clicks five times in a row, then a pause, then another five times in a row. After 2-3 cycles it...
  3. For those who feel "Maintenance is a Scam!"

My first guess was: the diff cover leaked, someone tried to 'fix' it by adding some of that stop-leak crapola, which didn't work so they added more. And then more. And then more? Who knows though ;-).
  4. Wolf Haus connector type

For sure. And actually reading the WolfHaus description again, it's "20 amps for bare wires" (basically the max current of 14 gauge wire) or 15 amps for the 16 gauge wire. Which might be overstating the rating for SwitchCraft connector slightly (15A should be 13A). If you're paranoid, put a...
  5. Wolf Haus connector type

You bet. The only thing that's bothering me about it: the CXA connector specifies a 13 amp max current while WolfHaus says 20 amps. That's quite a bit of difference, and I'm beginning to think it's a different connector from SwitchCraft (either that or WolfHaus is overstating the rating, and...
  6. Wolf Haus connector type

I pulled mine out to look at it. The marking CXA on the connector is I think a SwitchCraft part. Most likely it's exactly this: Switchcraft EN3 polarized 2-pin harsh environment connector: https://www.switchcraft.com/en3-harsh-environment-panel-mount-2-contact-female-crimp/en3p2f16cx/
  7. CarPlay microphone volume level

Odd. I had problems when I first bought my truck (september '22). I have used a carlinkit from the beginning. At some point, mine began working just fine though. I believe it was an iOS update which fixed it for me. There are some forums that suggest ios updates were at fault, and that the...
  8. Other OEM wheels that fit?

I know the 5th gen ranger wheels and hubs use a 6x5.5 bolt pattern and have a 93.1mm center bore with a +55 offset (thanks to the Ranger Station for having a lot of info). I'm curious what other vehicles have OEM wheels that will fit WITHOUT the use of adapters or spacers? I see modern...
  9. Just pulled the trigger on this

Inb4 someone else suggests a damper for the tailgate.
  10. Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadian Members!

I was handed this chart by a Canadian coworker once. Based on the chart they are probably called Quarter Pounders in Canada: My personal favorite thing about the chart is that it sometimes says "imperial" or "metric", and sometimes says the actual units to use. This inconsistency seems to...
  11. Remote Transmission Dip Stick Aftermarket Support?

@Fitzmotor I would very much like to get on 'the list' to purchase one of these. I hadn't followed the thread in a while but it kept popping up on the 'most recent posts' lists so I finally decided to take a look. Looks great! I haven't checked my fluid level ever due to the fear of death and...
  12. New '23 SC - need tow package

One thing to note, when you cut it out make sure to cut on the OUTSIDE of the outline. If you cut the inside of the outline, there will be too much plastic left (the plug clips to the metal bumper backing).
  13. New '23 SC - need tow package

Aftermarket hitch is a lot easier to install, and will have a higher tongue weight (asterisk). I've got a Reese hitch with a 1125 pound tongue weight. 'course I'll never exceed 750 or so on the tongue, but nice to know it's available. Not really clear to me if Reese's rating supersedes Ford's...
  14. Manual trans?

Someone will probably do it with the MT88. Should match up with the 2.3L no problem, but for 4wd you will have to swap in a bronco transfer case I think? And when you swap in the Bronco transfer case you'd have to make a choice about enabling the '4A' mode (not sure if anything else would need...
  15. Question for the mechanically inclined?

Check the battery voltage at all three points here: The main battery is a solid circle. After the main fuse is circled with a dashed line. After the secondary fuse is surrounded by a square (somebody can tell me what the 225A and 125A fuses are for, probably the bigger one runs to the starter...
  16. Question for the mechanically inclined?

There's a chance you blew the main fuse in the truck. Easy fix, unless of course it blows again. Get a voltmeter and check the voltage of the battery. Check the voltage both directly on the battery terminals as well as just 'after' the fuse. If it is reporting ~12.2 volts or more it should be...
  17. Tailgating

I was assuming that it had something to do with dampers. I am also disappointed.
  18. Carpeted Panel between Cab and Bed Holding Water

We finally had a good long rain last night (Iowa has been in a horrible drought still). The cab did not have its normal post-rain musty smell, like at all, so it was indeed the carpet and leaves that was causing the odor issue. Hooray.
  19. Carpeted Panel between Cab and Bed Holding Water

Welp, I got it done today. Like Porpoise suggests, you can pull the carpet slightly into the bed of the truck. Once you have access to the hole in the carpet from the rivet, drop a good quality rope (I used some old scrap of sailboat line that I had), tie through the hole, then pull! The...
  20. Carpeted Panel between Cab and Bed Holding Water

I do like that as a fix. Up here in the midwest we are in the salt belt though. That carpet is going to trap water and ice and salt all winter long, and hold it up against the side of the cab and the bed even if I did the pipe insulation trick. I may still do it just to keep crap from landing...
