  1. Question on Front Strut Jounce Bumper

A guy I used to work with lost an eye using one of those coil compressor tools. Not sure exactly how it happened, it was shortly after he retired from being an electrician. His eye was so damaged they had to remove it and do some reconstructive surgery on his face. He’s lucky that’s all he lost…...
  2. Upper Control Arms

I always use Leviton Ford when I need to order OEM parts. I’ve called them many times to get part numbers, ask questions, etc… They haven’t let me down yet. Try giving them a call or emailing and see what they have.
  3. Upper Control Arms

The taper on the ball joints between the steel and aluminum knuckles are different. I was running UCA’s meant for aluminum knuckles on my truck for a while. They worked for a bit but after a while the alignment kept going out and the ball joints were shot again. After months of trying to figure...
  4. Another displeasing experience with a dealership!

Talked to the service advisor finally. He said he forgot to call me on Tuesday like he was supposed to ā€œmy badā€ā€¦ He started throwing out numbers and parts and said what it should cost to repair. I asked if it’s going to be covered under warranty? He said he still doesn’t know, but the...
  5. ABS, Lane Keeping faults

Probably just a glitch in the system. Mine has done this a couple times, then it’s fine. Unless you’re getting warning lights that don’t clear the next time you drive, I wouldn’t worry about it.
  6. Ranger Raptor Owners, Alternator Question

The alternator on a ā€˜26 Raptor is mounted 33-36 inches from the ground, depending on tire diameter. This is why the truck’s maximum water crossing depth is 33.5 inches, that’s the height of the alternator.
  7. Long term fix for horn

My electrician brain says the problem most likely isn’t a bad ground. If the circuit that controls the horn is shared with two or three other things, you’d be having problems in multiple places if it was a loose or corroded ground connection. After reading your original post again, I’d be...
  8. Long term fix for horn

The only time I’ve seen issues with grounds is if/when they come loose and aren’t making good contact. I ground all the stuff I’ve ran straight to the body with a bolt and locknut. Clean the paint off first and get it down to bare metal. I haven’t had any issues so far and I’m going on 4 years...
  9. Long term fix for horn

All the accessories I’ve added have their own dedicated and separately fused circuits. Partly because I don’t trust factory connections, partly because it makes troubleshooting easier. If there’s ever an issue, I know the problem is isolated to one circuit that I ran and not 5 other things that...
  10. Long term fix for horn

My horn hasn’t worked since I ran through a mud puddle shortly after getting the ranger. Apparently that’s a know issue with them. If they get wet, they’re shot. That’s what I’ve heard anyway. Mine still halfway works, kind of… Sounds like a little clown horn šŸ˜‚ don’t know of any real fix other...
  11. Another displeasing experience with a dealership!

As much I think warranties are a load of crap in most cases, it did save us having to pay $7k for a transmission. That’s the ONLY reason we decided to get it. I had already been driving my ranger for a few years and the factory 65k mile warranty was already expired when I started having hard...
  12. Another displeasing experience with a dealership!

That’s correct. We bought the truck from an out of town dealership. Taking it back there isn’t really an option.
  13. Another displeasing experience with a dealership!

I don’t dislike dealerships for no reason. I’ve had several bad experiences in the past, across several different dealerships, with several different vehicles. Sloppy workmanship, incompetent service advisors, mechanics breaking things and denying it, warranties not being honored, issues being...
  14. Sync 3 v3.4.23188

Why can’t Ford just leave things alone?! lol The app worked fine before, it was after I tried updating things I started having issues… All I need is lock/unlock and remote start. STOP UPDATING SOMETHING THAT WORKS!!! It’s like the tech people where I work. Our programs and software work just...
  15. Another displeasing experience with a dealership!

It’s a third party warranty. It’s through the dealership where we bought the truck used. What trips me up is why the transmission was handled, no questions asked, but they’re making a big deal about the driveshaft carrier which costs nothing compared to rebuilding a transmission.
