I know a lot of people like the kicker hideaway. I was too cheap to pony up for it but I wanted a little bit more low end in my scab. Enter the rockville ss8p. It will fit under your seat, lay in the floor board, or can be mounted between the two rear seat backs which is the route I went. For $99 this thing works very well. Hoping to get many years use out of it! It does a great job filling in the missing low end. No it's not the two punch 8s I had in my f150 with the 625 watt amp, but it is a well rounded system now.

Just my opinion take it for what it's worth.

What adapter did you use to install it? Or did you just tap the speaker wires?

I had the preamp out harness kit from plug and play kits that I originally used in my previous truck,, 19 f150. Ran 8 gage amp kit to power it. Tapped a fuse that is only hot with ignition for the remote turn on.

While I agree it rounds out the OEM stereo, I feel very underwhelmed. For a little more and patiently searching, you could piece together a decent used setup. I got the Rockville 10 and feel like I should have just used up one of the back seats with a real 12. In the end though, it's better than nothing. Just my 2 cents.

It depends on wants and needs. I didn't want to waste room with sub boxes or I would have kept my 2 punch 8's. Id rather have that space for luggage when traveling. Personally I was very impressed with what the little sub could do considering it's small form factor and limited air space. No it's not going to win spl competition but it does much better than I thought possible. In the end it's all a compromise.

I have the Rockville 10 in my Jeep and it does exactly what I want it to do, which is simply fill in the low frequencies that door and dash speakers have a harder time getting.

And it takes up ZERO room in the cargo area (replaced the factory 10 disc changer) which is what I was most concerned with.

I have no desire for a panel-rattling system anymore.

If I ever want to get abused by a stereo, I borrow my son's Mustang with the Mach 1000 system in it

It's the most impressive factory system I've heard, though it makes the trunk almost useless.

Agreed. I think when you spoil yourself with a real subwoofer setup, something like this doesn't compare lol.

Josh,

Thanks for information on the Rockville Underseat Subwoofer. Always nice to have options on upgrades. I wonder if you could post some pictures of the installation when you get a chance?

Lol I've gotten old enough that I don't need a real subwoofer anymore. Trying to save what hearing I have. You are correct it is a bit of a different type of sound having a real sub. I'm still happy with my purchase though .

Josh,

Any pictures of where yours is mounted?

Not currently but I'll try to remember to take some. Behind the rear seat, driver's side.
