I dropped my ranger off on November 16th 2020 to get some repairs done from a disagreement with a deer (see prior posts). In total right around $7k in damages with an estimated repair time of 2 weeks.

Flash forward 2 months and I am still receiving futher delays due to backordered parts and an apparent shutdown from Ford in producing parts.

This has further soured my liking of ford not really due to the issues with parts but more the fact that Ford corporate has done zero to make right on issues that are there problem.

I have been in contact with ford customer support several times only to be given a phone number to the dealers service manager (which happens to be my dad LOL). This sort of hurts my chances in being able to raise hell at the service department level.

Anyways is anyone else facing this problem?

If so have you had any luck dealing with Ford in any capacity?

In honesty, all manufacturing is hurting right now. Doesn’t matter the make or model, year. Everyone is in the same boat on this one. Where I am the state government officials have limited (essential) business to only have 25% of your workforce on site! How the hell can you manufacture anything with restrictions like that? I really feel bad for general manufacturers. There under FORCED closure. Point I’m making is, no one has any idea where stuff is being made or the restrictions involved doing so. Good luck getting you truck fixed.

You'll find this sort of issue all over the place right now, not just with Ford. Heck, I had to wait 6 weeks to get a wiring harness for my auxiliary lights. My brother had to wait 2 weeks to get a phone. The company I work for has been having similar supplier issues and backlogs. It's the nature of living in a Covid time when so many places are either shutdown, have been shutdown at one (or more) time, and/or are working at lower capacity.

A large company like Ford, which contracts out so many of their parts, may be disproportionately affected by this, but I don't blame Ford. Nor do I blame the suppliers. I don't blame anyone. This is just the life we live in right now. It sucks that it means you can't get your truck, and I would probably be frustrated as well, but I don't think there's much to be done about it. Either the parts exist or they don't, can't do anything about that. Everyone's doing their best with what they're being given.

I get why my truck is delayed but the least Ford could do is pick up a rental for me and not force me to bum rides or borrow cars to get to and from anywhere after my insurance rental ran out after 30 days.

I work for one of the largest contract manufacturing companies on the planet with 120+ sites worldwide and nearly 300k employees. Over 97% of our plant operations are up and running most at capacity. We manufacture just about anything you can think of either in complete top level assembly form, sub assembly form or electronic PCB assembly. While we have large scale vertical integration, we still rely upon specific manufacturers of key proprietary electronic and mechanical components which is creating the LT issues for us. Unfortunately that impacts every business sector from defense/aerospace to automotive to consumer electronics to medical and everything in between. Better days ahead.

Yet Ford is able to roll trucks off the MAP line. Some parts are available, and they decide allocation, don't they?

probably is parts available. and its probably deer season across the majority of the continent. and I'm sure there's been many a deer caught in the hard parts of the front end....so, the part shortage continues as this isnt the only dead deer by a long shot.... further exasperated by covid restrictions. cue the vicious cycle

if this kind of stuff continues to go on, expect the delays to continue for some time.

Yeah all these college kids in Alabama living their lives when their team is playing for a National Championship are the reason we can't get parts. *shakes fist*

Thank you all for explaining the nuances of the international supply chain during covid.

We are 10-11 months into a pandemic that clearly was underestimated by all. That doesn't really diflect the blame from Ford in being unreachable not just in my case but in the tons of cases like mine.

Any ways my fiance is tired of me bitching about so thanks for letting me bitch.

put it to you this way, in the US your death rate is about 1.7%, canada its 2.85%.
we will average it to 2 for ease of maths.

The Ranger plant itself employs about 3000 people.
that means that 60 employees at that plant could be dead. thats alot of people to lose off of a shift....thats slows down production. now add in all the supporting companies....and geez golly thats means more dead people...more slowdowns, more delays.....not to mention all the sick people that cant come to work....so yeah, keep shaking your fist over no parts
To be completely accurate we would need to factor alot more info into the calculation but yeah I completely understand why there are part delays doesn't mean I can't stand up here on my soapbox and make myself into an ass.

See I’m good with this because you recognize it. That’s awesome! Hope you get your truck back soon.

Yeah, I know just how you feel...

I dropped my wife off in March 2020 to get some symptoms checked from a disagreement with an eye infection (see prior post). In total appeared to be a cold with an estimated recovery time of 2 days.

Flash forward 10 months and she is still suffering debilitating effects of COVID-19 “long haul syndrome” due to lack of treatment regimes and an apparent shutdown from big pharma in producing a cure.

This has further soured my liking of her doctors not really due to the issues with treatments but more the fact that they have done zero to make right on issues that leave my wife bedridden and unable to perform the simplist of everyday tasks.

I have been in contact with doctors and several times only to be given a phone number to the provincial and federal health ministers (which happens to be as busy as hell with a pandemic). This sort of hurts my chances in being able to raise hell at the government level.

Anyways is anyone else facing this problem?

If so have you had any luck dealing with COVID-19 in any capacity?

Sorry you‘re forced to bum rides or borrow cars to drive to and from anywhere during the pandemic.

Umm sorry about that man sounds terrible. I was just venting frustrations as stated earleir you clearly deserve to be infinitely more frustrated. Only plus I can see is you're Canadian and didn't get railed with medical expneses without a resolution. Hope she gets the help she needs/gets better.
