I have a SYNC3 system with a standard rear view camera on a 4" diagonal non-touch screen on my 2020. I looked at the manual and it does not mention anything about the camera giving an audible or visual notification alert when an obstacle is detected that is too close. I am assuming that this camera system is limited to only showing a video image of the area behind the vehicle?

Thanks,
Paul

Correct, there's only visual with the camera. You would need the rear sensors in the bumper for for audio alerts when you start getting closer to objects. There are also front sensors too which is part of the 501A package. I'm not sure if the sensors are available on lower packages but I have the 501A .

Dave,

I do not have the 501A package so this would probably eliminate any detection sensors. I also assumed that there is not a notification alerts feature with this camera because there is no response when I get close to an object. Thanks for responding.

There are aftermarket sensors you can add to the rear bumper if you want this feature. I know Amazon has some on their site but don't know which ones are any good. Also even with the 501A the camera doesn't give you any audible alerts just visual with guide lines. Hope this helps.

Paul, I just ordered a STX. To get the rear parking sensors one must order the "Ford 360" option that includes stuff like blind spot detectors, lane keeping, etc. For the price 625 bucks I checked the box as those things work quite well on the wife's Mustang. There is a thingy out there called the "Hitch Scan" that slips into the trailer hitch. I had one on my 2011 F-150, and the thing was really buggy. I took it off, because the dang thing at times wouldn't quit going off when I put the shifter back into park. No amount of reprogramming would fix the problem. Echo Master was really good, and sent me another. But, it did the same thing. However, they may be better today. IDK

Thanks for the input Jim. This helps in understanding how the safety features work in conjunction with the packages.
