I love Phil's posts and that truck racing article this morning on the forum got me thinking. I have been kicking around the idea of building a rally car. Not to necessarily win, but just to have fun with my 12 year old son building a car and doing crazy things with him and my friends around the country. I haven't settled on a car yet and I am wondering if any of you, maybe Phil, have any thoughts on using a Ranger as a platform for building a rally car. If so, which body style/model do you think might be best? I appreciate any thought you might have and thanks in advance for your reply.

Cheers!

Jim
Hi Jim,

My kid used to run his Ranger GT in The Local SCCA Detroit Region Rally Cross series and even won his class once...it was a great Father Son project to resotre the Ranger GT and then watch him flog it on the Rally Cross track. It is like an off road Autocross. Might be worth considering just to take the stock Ranger out there and then see what you might want to lightly Mod and see if it makes the truck faster...let the kid sling the wrenches as much as he can....It will benefit him for the rest of his life! Cooll you want to do this for your son! Kudos!
