Two awards for Ford Ranger in Germany

COLOGNE, Germany - The Ford Ranger has scooped two more awards in Germany this month.
The expert jury of Firmenauto magazine, a major German publication on mobility and fleet management, voted the Ford Ranger their favourite company vehicle of the year in the pick-up category.
Europe’s best-selling pick-up won 28 percent of the votes, beating nine competitors, making it Ford’s tenth overall category win in the annual Firmenauto poll.
The expert jury represented 155 fleet managers from companies in Germany and ten industry experts (leasing companies, fleet magazines, consultants).
A second award came from magazine Off Road, whose readers chose the Ford Ranger as their Off-road vehicle of the year 2020 in the pick-up category. Established in 1982, the Off Road Awards this year received a total of 41,538 votes for 248 models in 13 classes.
Ten competitors competed in the pick-up category, with Ranger gaining 18.5 percent of the votes.
In June this year, readers of Auto Bild Allrad magazine crowned the Ranger the best all-wheel-drive pickup of the year, and in November 2019, an expert international jury chose it as International Pick-up of the Year.

Great Article Phil......I respect Your work History with Ford over your long Career & have seen many of your posts & I respect your opinion's very much. I recognize you have been there in the Automotive Market for a long time....Off topic...I see these posts where these owners are removing the front air damn & I always recall the reason Ford installs these is due to air flow to the Radiator....is this the purpose for the air damn & can you highlight the real purpose for people removing them & the consequences of same? Also what is your opinion of the Auto-Start Eliminator by Western Tech from Fairmont, West Virginia?

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for the kind words. Part of my ambassadorship of Ford to give back where we can. First, the air dam. It can serve several purposes..first is drag reduction by keeping the air from the undercarriage of the vehicle...improvement in fuel economy, Secondly it can and does force more air through the Radiator. The folks that are removing them for clearance or vehicle aesthetics likely will not see much affect except for those towing at GCW in high ambient temperatures like currently in Green Valley AZ where today's forcast high is 111° but will be likely higher and record breaking. Even my Sonoran Desert Tortiose knows it is hot and sought cooler temps in the house yesterday! He is a smart and has figured how to use his beak to knock on the patio door glass. He will stay inside with us today as well as Monday before we let him back out into the walled in patio/back yard.. ? I do not concur with air dam removal, but it is the owner's choice and consequence of this removal.

Second question. I have installed the Auto Stop/Start Eliminator on my Ranger and am very happy with it. It works as advertised and was a 5 minute install for me....I did not follow the directions to dismantle the bottom of the dash...it was not needed. I guess the company was playing it safe. On my wife's new Lincoln Nautilus, I took the route to install a small nightlight in the 120V outlet to see how that worked. The defeat switch on the Nautilus is at the top of the dash and I am reluctant to dismantle the whole dash to install an Auto Stop/Start Eliminator. So far so good with the night light.

Thanks Again your explanation.... it should be understood by All readers if smart....I spent 40 Years in the retail end of the Auto Industry & remain a student to the knowledge of others like yourself who worked at the Factory Level....I have s few friends in Westfield Michigan who worked at Ford Racing & they are always fun to talk with Also...Have a great day!
