If I open either door on my Ranger when the engine off the speedometer needle will vibrate between 0 and 5 miles per hour. You can actually hear it. The vibration lasts for about 5 seconds and stops. The problem is intermittent. I had the truck infor service yesterday. The needle vibrated when I got into the truck to drive to the dealer. It didn't do it at the dealers. The service rep said it might be normal, and he would check. There was nothing on the invoice when I picked the truck up, and I forgot to ask.
Has anyone else observed this?

I've never heard of such a thing Bud. Hope it's nothing serious, and please keep us updated. We never know if someone else's will start that weird stuff. Good luck.

Try a hard reset with a battery disconnect. Usually takes care of these little gremlins.
Before you do though, check that battery voltage. Low voltage can cause erratic behavior
with BCM and other ecu's.

My truck turned two years old this November. It only has 9000 miles on iit. I use it primarialy to toe my sailboats. I still have the vibrating speedometer needle. When I brought it up with the dealer, two years ago, they said to watch it for awhile. I have done that for two years and the only new thing I have learned is that it also does the vibrating needle with every thing off in the truck. I was sitting in the truck one day with nothing turned on and the needle started vibrating. The truck goes back to the dealer next week for the seatbelt recall check, and I will bring the problem up again. Now I will be more agressive for a solution since my warrantee will run out in a year.
