Most of the tools I use were inherited from the old man. His 80's vintage rollaway and top box is full of Craftsmen stuff and lives in my garage now.
I know it's uncouth to quote yourself but thought of an addition to this.

Saturday was garage day. Doing some fuel cell changes on the old truck, and YJ maintenance with my daughter.

She did most of the Jeep stuff with my guidance. Oil change, rear diff top off because Jeep, tire rotation, and serpentine belt. The ID# engraved in the ½ combo wrench from my old man using it at work reminded me that she's the 3rd generation to use them. Pretty neat if you ask me.

thats awesome! so much in our world now is tech gadgets and junk that will be past its prime in less than six months. no one hands down a smart phone for generations. but good tools can sort of live on.

Well got tired of the old glass welding helmets and switched to an Harbor freight auto darkening one about 10 years ago. That finally died last week and decided to go with a little better one that has the clear view technology and faster response time with a bigger view and room for a mask. I find technology is good in items like this and hopefully I get another 10 years from this. Getting ready for cataract correction and hopefully this will help preserve my sight a little longer. This thing has a really awesome lightweight head gear.

when i was in highschool i took metal fabrication ag class. which was just fancy term for welding 101. the class had a set of old helmets from the mid sixties. no auto glass or any other options than flip up or down. lots of duct tape holding them together. the instructor however had a brand new auto dim helmet with a fancy blue red paint job. it was his baby. we were not allowed to touch it. friend of mine just had to try it when the instructor was out of the shop... as you can guess he dropped it on the cement shop floor. glass broke. paint scratched. no one ratted him out so we all suffered.
