Just musing over the wheels I ordered recently and reading the how missing or damaged items are handled. I ordered from a well established online retailer (probably drop-ship stuff).

Who actually pays for this insurance stuff? You know what insurance I have and almost everyone else here has?

Charge-back.

If a pay a company for a product and it never arrives, or it arrives damaged that is not my problem or loss to eat because of shipping mishaps. As a matter of fact you can also arrange for a prepaid pickup/dropoff tag if it comes damaged. Ship back on my own dime? You must be out of your mind. That is your cost of doing business as an online retailer to recoup cost from the manufacturer or shipping courrier, not mine. I'm not even sure how shipping insurance is still a thing as free return shipping and item replacement (legitimate problems) became normalized quite some time ago in the web-o-sphere.

Just my random spontaneous utterance for the day. I've only run into problems with an online business on two other occasions regarding this topic. In one case I did a charge-back and told them whenever they wanted they could send me notice when a mail courier was ready to pickup. They never did. The second instance the mere discussion of a charge-back resulted in a prepaid shipping label generated by the next business day.

Those little agreement boxes when you place orders doesn't magically absolve them of responsibility on missing or broken products. Now if the package is delivered (verified) and it is then stolen from my porch then I cannot hold the retailer responsible.
