I'm gearing up for a few week long solo overland trip end of this month, and would love to bring one of my kayaks to hit some alpine lakes for trout. I'm running a decently large rooftop tent on my rack that is 48" wide, and I have 68" of total crossbar real estate.
I'm curious if anyone on here has any photos or descriptions of their setup? All the pictures I find of any overland setup with a kayak are all "sit inside" kayaks so their dimensions and weights are much smaller.
Technically I have 20" of crossbar to play around with, but that barely fits a J-rack dimensions and the 13" height of the tent interferes with that too, so I'd like to see a photo if anyone has attempted. It's pretty difficult for me to mock this up from my apartment, otherwise I'd just throw it on and try, which eventually I will.
I've accepted that I can't bring my 12.5ft pedal kayak because its around 110 pounds, so I've relinquished to bringing a 10ft sit on fishing kayak that is around 75 pounds.
