I really liked my pull-out bed step on my F150 so I wanted to have something to use for the new ranger. I've used the steps that attach to the side but I have never been a big fan of how they look or where you have to step up. So instead I bought an 18" receiver extension and a receiver step from Amazon. It was a total of about $70. It works perfectly to easily step up and down. I'm not sure if I will carry it with me or just throw it in when I know I will have to make multiple trips into the bed to unload stuff.
