The NA 2 21 maps are now available on Cyanlabs.net. The issue is that Ford has locked the file differently and you can't install on a Ranger with a model year 20 or newer APIM. So if you own a 19 Ranger (and maybe early 20) you can down load and install the NA 2 21 maps.

The safest bet is when you run the Sync3Updater software just answer the question "is it a model year 20?" with YES.

This will put a file on you USB stick that you then put into your Rangers USB port. The file will read the version of the APIM and stir it on the stick. Bring it back to your PC and point to the file as prompted. The Updater will determine if you can install the new maps.

There is also a new Sync update that you can install regardless.

Who knows when Ford will release this version of maps to their update site. I have a 21 so I am stuck waiting.

The lock out is by the My20 protection to prevent a reformat or downgrade. Both of these will brick the My20+ APIM. It may be possible to disable the My20 protection and select the AutoInstall option then use the 3.4.22110 sync version and still select the NA221 maps. Before flashing the drive In the slider options then turn off the apps download/install for 3.4.22110. This way all it's updating is Gracenotes and the map files.

I used that method to flash the NA 2.20 maps last year on mine and worked perfectly. With this new lock it will probably fail or brick the APIM. So far there has not been a workaround posted like the NA 2.20 maps had. Which probably means Ford is going to force the NA market to pay for map updates moving forward. Either way, chances are that I'll just continue using Waze via Carplay anyway.

After I ran the app they put on your USB to check the APIM the NA 2 21 maps disappeared as a selection but I could still install 3.4.22110.

Unless, Cyanlabs figures out a way to get around the lock or Ford releases them I will continue with my NA 2 20 maps. The need to update maps is way over blown. I have a couple of early 2000s vintage TomToms that have never been updated and they have never failed to get me where I am going. I have one in my 68 Barracuda and use it over Google Maps on my phone simply because it has an integrated suction cup mount.

Yeah for the most part older GPS maps have enough data to get you where you need to go. My wife's 2014 Santa Fe maps have never been upgraded and still gets her there when she uses it. Most of the time she uses Wayze on her cell. The next car will have CarPlay so she'll have it on the infotainment screen instead.

You are probably right. My daughter got an email from Jeep for an update to her nav system. Special price through the end of the month for $99.?. Too many free options to be paying for updates. She declined, BTW.
